Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Maybe this is a conspiracy theory, but I feel like there is something about Alaska where every time there is an attempt to mine it for natural resources, the government just shuts it down. I feel like this isn't the first time this has happened.
It's not a conspiracy theory, it's politics.

Alaska is sitting on an absolute fuck ton of resources. If serious extraction ever begins it would require a ton of, mostly Republican, people to move there. The combined income and population spike would rapidly spike it into being one of the most powerful red states in the country... and a -lot- of those people would come -from- California as it shares a coast for easy moving and has a very large dissatisfied Republican constituent. And in the long term, Alaska lacks anything which would make it ideal for a major city to appear meaning it's unlikely to ever end up as another New York or Illinois, dominated by one city.

See the problem then? California loses power and Alaska gains a ton. Alaska getting that boom would spell the doom of Democrats ever gaining the House again and make the Presidency an absolute hell to get.

So, it ping pongs. Any time a Republican is in the White House they try to start the boom. Any time a Democrat is in the White House they quash the boom.

he is acting like, randy stair before his killing spree you know what I mean

I remember thinking, "holy shit this dude is batshit nuts! Good thing people like him are rare!" Then came Clown World..... *sigh*
"Sir, we have record high gas prices and it's seriously hurting us in the polls. What should we do?"
"Shut down any further energy development!"
Seriously, it's like they WANT to piss people off at this point so they can clamp down even harder on us.
So does Bill Palmer. They're both Keith Olbermann-tier bonkers.
Aw shit, now you've given @Josterman a boner the size of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. I hope you're happy.

Can a political party take break?
Assuming you're referring to the party functioning normally whilst letting the other run unopposed. The last time that's happened, and let's specify things to the presidential, and it's 1820 — James Monroe's reelection, back when the parties we know didn't even exist.

Meanwhile a based grandpa told me today that Alabama's state legislature is also now in session and this time they might actually pass something to allow the state to vote on having a lottery in November. He wants the yunguns to contact our representatives because that's where it got shot down last year (senate passed it). Injuns of course want this to bring in casinos so they can have a monopoly but the lottery is separate somehow. Mississippi, Tennessee, Georgia, and Florida have lotteries.

Imagine a bunch of Californians - people who have heart attacks if the temp dips below 60 - moving to Alaska to mine.

And while they double down, the CDC is concurrently backing down, vainly trying to make concessions in a mixture of attempting to appease the public and wind down Covid. 2 years have passed and the CDC is only NOW finally willing to begin tallying how many people died with Covid and not of Covid. I don't know exactly how much the death toll would be reduced if they removed 'with Covid' deaths, but it's looking to be a very big chunk. If the CDC think this pussyfooting isn't just making things worse for them, though, they are not just evil but also fucking stupid.
Sorry if this has been answered already. I took a bit of a break.

Attached is the "COVID Comorbidity report for 2020. The report states that the "average" COVID death had 2.9 comorbidities. Not only that but 94% of deaths had comorbidities. Leaving 6% with "COVID" listed as the singular cause. So at the end of 2020 deaths were at 600,000, but rough, back of napkin math would suggest COVID deaths being closer to 35,000.

I suggest giving it a read. On page 52 there is a listing for "comorbidity of profound mental retardation". Fucking amazing.

Also so far I haven't found one for 2021 but if it took six months then that would probably explain why I didn't find it yet.
I love Grassley. There are videos of this.

I am beyond words.
This has some Imperial Guard Commissar vibes.
One step closer to fair elections. It'll get appealed though so this might be reversed.

Jack Posobiec is euphoric, and sadly appears to be overdosing on hopium. I'll say the Biden administration has collapsed when and only when he and Harris resign from office in disgrace, and not a single moment sooner.

Back in older editions of 40k, vehicles that had all the weapons destroyed and were immobilized were considered "destroyed" even if you didn't roll a destroyed result.

And in StarCraft you could get "mobility kills" by destroying an opponents resource gathering, leaving them to slowly whither away as their resources dwindled away to nothing.

Point being that you have to define victory in broader terms. Like Biden being president but getting knee capped on the regular should be enjoyable. His legacy will be destroyed. He is powerless to stop it. He can only watch in slowly increasing dread as his empire of dirt erodes around him. Neolibs have to watch as their champion falls. Their tricks fail to protect him. Terror filling them as the entire system shambles to a halt.

So yes, him resigning in disgrace would be the true end, but you can drag the agony out.
Can a political party take break?
In Democrats case? I doubt it. They seem to be on the same hedonic treadmill as the rest of the country, where they incurred debts that need to be paid only for the treadmill to get faster for the next time around. They cannot take a break because that would be the equivalent of falling on a treadmill.

Maybe they can rebuild after the collapse but I doubt that.

Looks like the new barrier at the white house doesn't surround the building but just around the fountain. Perhaps they have some sort of maintenance work to do on the below ground structure? replacing the fountain? it cant be dealing with anything super secret because then the barriers would be taller to obscure the webcam view. At this point i dont know what they are doing but i'm inclined to believe its not anything too sinister. The use of the semi-decorative (they have simple decorative designs that are similar to the building as a whole) white barriers suggest the capitol architect doesnt want to mar the view too bad. it is the number 1 attraction in town after all.

that's no fun
also that would probably just need plywood shits like disneyworld construction
It is just a stay, but it almost is the full decision and is damn near written like it. It is a very strong nudge to the lower courts "Decide one way".
yeah that explains the confusion, the way they wrote that it was pretty "here is exactly why this cannot and will not stand under any scrutiny"

Which is part of why the health worker mandate stood. Roberts and Kavanugh hid behind some technicalities to avoid setting actual precedent on it, then decided for a very broad decision that all but nukes mandates.

While at first these two are at odds, it makes political sense. Nobody will complain -too- hard at the healthcare worker mandate. Oh, plenty people (myself included) hate it. But it's the most 'understandable' of the bunch. Soo, make a harsh as hell decision and allow another to stand -purely- on technical grounds. The message is clear, "The lower courts will decide against this. Do not appeal it. We will decide against it. If you are a good boy though, we won't then have to decide against all of it."

It is rather firmly drawing a line and saying "Do not cross, it won't go well for you".

So of course, I am looking forward to them crossing it. The last time SCOTUS tried to do this they immediately did and got shot down fast and hard and in a way with widespreading ramifications on precedent.

Also quietly. Which was just... chefs kiss,

Is it too optimistic to hope that maybe enough of Murkowski's constituents will be pissed off about this denial of potential development/enrichment enough to push her to avoid even thinking about acting like a RINO anymore?

Yeah, with Mississippi having a lottery now, Alabama is almost definitely feeling the pressure to set up their own, what with being completely surrounded by states that do. I remember the parentals taking a trip over to Louisiana every couple months to get Powerball tickets, and they're happy they don't have to do that anymore. For Mississippi, it was part religious exception, but mostly casinos, which kind of threw the whole religious angle out the window anyway. Alabama's leaving a lot of money on the table if they don't go forward, but with how incredibly close it came last time, it's not gonna surprise me if they succeed this time.

(Side note, I looked up which other states don't have lotteries. Nevada doesn't because, obviously, Vegas doesn't want any competition. Utah doesn't because their constitution bans gambling, so they'd need an amendment to even begin the process. And Alaska and Hawaii don't because...well, just because, I guess. There's not much pressure to given their isolation from the rest of the country.)
ehh, LotR isn't as done to death as Harry Potter, but I think 2010 has a lot more mileage
I appreciated the reference.

He does have a point they are both batshit insane on the same spectrum but differ on how they show their insanity. Let me elaborate with bill and Keith’s whole world view comes from twitter and to an extent agents of influence either from the unhinged zealots of the site or the DNC in some of their cases it’s basically eating their own shit. The only difference Keith has two platforms to show his unhingedness mainly twitter and YouTube and he gets roasted on both ends and probably doesn’t block people and only takes about trump when there is not a missing dog involved which is most of his account and consider the guy is what in his 50s or 60s. Bill Palmer is much more hot headed than Keith and more or probably equally insane in my person opinion on him. Bill doesn’t like dissenting opinions and just blocks people and is failed indipendent journalist who lives in a red state and acts like a internet tough guy threading to sue anyone who dare calls him out on his conspiracy theories. He only surrounds himself with worshipers who would do his bidding like say Harrass people and say things that no normal person would say or agree with. I would agree that both are authoritarian to the bone and only let the mask slip only a couple times or 24/7 in other cases revealing their true thoughts. The only thing that their good at is being shot journalists who constantly fail upwards and I use the term journalist loosely since they are nothing more than tools for the establishment and suck Biden’s cock and spread misinformation both political and medical. The only other difference is that Keith didn’t delete tweets where as bill did with the whole russia gate narrative collapsed and is grifting off of the riot.

I realize that The New Republic is a rag written by and for left-wing administrative complex dick suckers, but putting aside the ludicriousness of their headline...do they really think saying "think about Kamala!" is going to sway anyone? No one fucking likes Kamala, she's the last person you want to put up as a sympathetic poster child for whatever cause you're trying to push.
Yeah Robert Harrington doesn’t know jack and shit wouldn’t surprise me if he was supporter of CCP Winnie the pooh

I think the Healthcare worker mandate is related to the fact that so much of the Health System opens it's mouth to suck Daddy Government's dick with Medicare and Medicade, now they gonna take that dick up the ass.

Am I the only one who actually sees the dark side of all this?

The dark side being that the three liberal justices are absolutely insane. Meaning that some bad timing on Thomas dying for example could very easily mean we get some real judicial fuckery for decades.

You really can't let the Dems have another SCOTUS seat practically ever unless you want to risk more Sotomayors. Holy shit.
