Let's pretend for one moment that he does die before the election, just for the funsies. What happens then? Will the nomination revert to option number 2, aka Bernie Sanders? Or will his running mate automatically replace him just the way Vice-President is supposted to step in after the Big Man in the White House chokes on a piece of matzo? Does he even have a running mate yet?

Has anybody here heard of Checkers?

God fucking YAAAAS!
We had BOLTH Checkers and Rally's in my city years ago. Western burger was my favorite and I loved the fries. Neighboring city was supposed to get a new Checkers but I haven't heard a damn thing ever again since 2020, so I'm guessing nah.

The closest "burger joint" to the White House is the McDonalds on 17th and H. I've always found it hilarious that people act like this was some deep political play on Trump's part, when it was just literally the closest source of fast food.
Guys, I think Trump just likes Maccas. I don't see a need to further analyse this.

How do you know that Daddy Covefe just had McDick's employees IN the White House? Just back a Sysco truck up, lend out some McDick's employees to the WH kitchen... hell, they have deep fryers and shit. Just needed the Sysco truck for the food and packaging.

Only way I could figure those guys actually ate fresh McDick's what with WH security and distance.

Here friends, let me give you a hit of the good stuff. I'm talking that pure unadulterated Buchanan.
Why the Left Cannot Let Go of Jan. 6

“Every Day Is Jan. 6 Now.”

That was the headline over the editorial of 1,000 words in The New York Times of Sunday last.

On first read, I thought the Times was conceding its obsession and describing its mission. For the editorial began by bewailing yet anew the “horrifying” event, “the very real bloodshed of that awful day,” the “once-unthinkable trauma.”

Still, a year later, said the Times, “the Republic faces an existential threat,” as the “Capitol riot … continues in statehouses across the country, in a bloodless, legalized form that no police officer can arrest and that no prosecutor can try in court.”

“We should stop underestimating the threat facing the country. … (our) democracy … is in grave danger.”

What the Times is saying is that the electoral reforms being enacted democratically in red states — requiring voter IDs, for example, and subject to judicial review — are a Republican continuation of the Capitol riot.

Why cannot our liberal media let it go? Why does the distortion and hysteria about Jan. 6 seem to grow with each retelling?

Now, undeniably, as I wrote in a column the next morning, Jan. 6 was “The Worst of Days for Trump & Trumpists.”

“The worst of the day’s events for Trump came when a segment of a friendly crowd of 50,000 he just addressed concluded its march down the Mall to the U.S. Capitol by smashing its way into the building and invading and occupying the Senate and House chambers.

“Members of Congress were forced to flee and hide. A protester, an Air Force veteran, was shot to death by a Capitol cop. Vice President Mike Pence, who was chairing the joint session, was taken into protective custody by his Secret Service detail. Doors were broken open. Windows were smashed, and the building was trashed …

“What Americans watched was a mob occupation and desecration of the temple of the American Republic.” I added, “And the event will be forever exploited to discredit not only Trump but the movement he led and the achievements of his presidency.”

That last line understated what an obsession Jan. 6 has become for the nation’s establishment and media elite.

The left cannot let go of Jan. 6. Indeed, it has fixated upon, exploited and exaggerated the riot to discredit and destroy the Trump presidency in the history books and to prevent Donald Trump from ever running or being elected president again.

Though Trump was exonerated by the Senate of the impeachment charge brought by Nancy Pelosi’s House, the House select committee wants to try Trump again and again in the court of public opinion and wants President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice to find some crime with which to charge and convict him.

There are other reasons the left cannot let go of Jan. 6.

Democrats have no other issue on which to run this November.

The Biden presidency has produced an uninterrupted string of disasters: the Afghanistan withdrawal debacle, the Texas border crisis, inflation, an explosion of gun violence and murders setting records in Democrat-run cities, failure to produce an adequate federal response to the delta and omicron waves of COVID-19.

Again, Jan. 6 was a riot, involving assaults on Washington and Capitol cops and the disruption of a formal congressional procedure to validate the electoral vote victory of Joe Biden.

But was Jan. 6 really the planned coup, the terrorism, the sedition, the armed insurrection, the attempt to overthrow the U.S. government?

Was Jan. 6 really comparable to Pearl Harbor and 9/11, during each of which 3,000 Americans went to their deaths in an hour’s time and major wars followed — as Vice President Kamala Harris said yesterday?

If so, why, a year after Jan. 6, 2021, has no one been charged with inciting a rebellion, sedition, treason, armed insurrection, plotting a coup, or a takeover of the government of the United States?

Thus far, all the charges prosecuted and punished are consistent with a riot, which is what Jan. 6 was. Comparisons of this three-hour mob action to Pearl Harbor and 9/11 are almost sacrilegious.

Was that QAnon shaman occupying the chair in the Senate chamber really the moral equivalent of Mohamed Atta ramming an airliner into the World Trade Center or Adm. Isoroku Yamamoto plotting the Dec. 7 surprise attack on Pearl Harbor?

Another reason for the left to paint up the horror of that day is that the perpetrators of Jan. 6 were not the radical left who battled cops and burned and looted Seattle, Portland, Milwaukee and scores of other cities in the aftermath of George Floyd’s killing.

They were the “deplorables” of Trump, the populists of the American right, against whom any slander is justified.

Question: If the left is so terrified of Trump it feels it must prevent him from even running again, by imposing a criminal conviction, what does that say about the left’s belief in American democracy?

What does that tell us about the left’s trust in the people?

Biden: Bull Connor’s GOP Imperils Democracy

“The next few days … will mark a turning point in this nation’s history,” said President Joe Biden in his Atlanta speech to reframe the debate in Congress on voting rights legislation and the filibuster.

He went on: “Will we choose democracy over autocracy, light over shadows, justice over injustice? … I know where I stand. … I will defend … our democracy against all enemies — foreign and, yes, domestic.”

And on this issue of light over shadows, good versus evil:

“Where will the institution of the United States Senate stand? …

“Will you stand against voter suppression? Yes or no? … Will you stand against election subversion? Yes or no? Will you stand for democracy? Yes or no?”

“I ask every elected official in America: How do you want to be remembered? … Do you want to be … on the side of Dr. King or George Wallace? Do you want to be on the side of John Lewis or Bull Connor? Do you want to be on the side of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis?”

Reaction was swift. “So much for unifying the country and working across the aisle,” said Sen. Mitt Romney.

“Pure demagoguery,” said Sen. Mitch McConnell: “The world saw our sitting commander in chief propagandize against his own country to a degree that would have made Pravda blush.”

“Perhaps the president went a little too far in his rhetoric,” said the Democratic Whip Sen. Dick Durbin.

The Rev. Al Sharpton dissented, describing Biden’s speech, which he had urged the president to make, as “monumental.”

Well, we shall see.

If Biden’s purpose was to add Senate votes to build a majority for ending the filibuster on voting rights, this looks like a loser. Implying that 52 senators, including Democrats Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema, are racists for the stand they have taken on keeping the filibuster does not seem like the way to bring them around.

As for calling the Republican opposition, all 50 senators, racists whose position on voting rights recalls the segregationists of the early 1960s, that would appear only to solidify and harden their opposition.

But perhaps Biden is after another game here. For what this speech did succeed in doing is to temporarily change the subject.

For months, Biden has been bedeviled by crises for which he has had no effective response:

The Afghanistan withdrawal debacle. The bleeding southern border where America is being daily invaded. The surge in shootings, killings and flash-mob, smash-and-grab robberies of elite stores.

A soaring inflation rate that is suddenly at a 40-year high. The possibility the Fed will start raising interest rates to combat it, which could tank the economy by the 2022 elections. The new surge, two years into the COVID-19 pandemic, in infections, hospitalizations and deaths.

Then, there are the polls, all of which show Biden underwater, and one, Quinnipiac, which shows his approval plummeting to 33%.

What Biden’s rant against the alleged racism of his former Senate colleagues does, then, is reframe the stakes of the voting rights debate, and change the issue from Biden’s transparent failures to the character of his opponents who threaten our “democracy” itself.

Put starkly, what panicked Democrats and their fearful media allies are about now is reframing a 2022 election they look certain to lose into an either/or choice election: Do you wish to see democracy destroyed, or protected, because democracy’s survival is on the table now.

Consider the 180-degree turn Biden has just taken:

In his inaugural address, Biden was preaching unity and his resolve to bring it about:

“Today, on this January day, my whole soul is in this:

“Bringing America together.

“Uniting our people.

“And uniting our nation.

“I ask every American to join me in this cause.”

Now, at the end of his first year, Biden is saying we are not one nation or one people. Our adversaries on this bill, including presumably all 52 senators, belong in the company of slave-holders, segregationists and rogue cops of yesteryear who used horses, dogs and clubs to beat civil rights protesters.

The change in roles is not easy for Biden to bring off. For Biden’s rant in Atlanta seems wildly out of character with the man we knew.

For was it not Biden himself who, during his transition, spoke warmly of old friends, colleagues and mentors from the 1970s — Sens. James Eastland of Mississippi, Strom Thurmond of South Carolina and Robert Byrd of West Virginia — all in their time unapologetic segregationists.

The odd thing about Biden’s new position is that, in the short run, it is a loser; he is not going to get a majority for voting rights or for ending the filibuster this way. And, in the long run, it is simply unsustainable.

For if Biden loses the House and Senate this fall, would not the victorious Republicans exact retribution on an unpopular lame-duck president they once thought of as Good Old Joe but who put them in a box with Bull Connor?
Now that's the good stuff.

This is very blatantly their tactic on everything right now and its insane. They can't pass vax mandates so they push private companies to do it, they can't outright ban speech so they push social media platforms to do it. They can't straight up take over means of production so they have California gov put insane restrictions in place that throttle the ports. Totalitarian workaround lifehacks.
It's why they're so scared of loosing 2022 and 24

James Lindsay had a good 20 minute episode about the significance of the NYT "every day is January 6th" article.

guess this is over now

To add my retarded takes to the tangents going on.
Smash Burger has the best burgers, just a shame they're rapidly disappearing.
Jokic is the only currently playing apehoop player worth a shit because he's actually entertaining to watch play the game, and he grew up in Serbia where he had to eat sandwiches without bananna peppers. Truly worse than growing up in Detroit or Harlem.

Just because. That’s just how shit was back then.

Hell, the Agent placing the order would most likely have tipped off the restaurant so they could pull a protest move. This kind of shit happened constantly over the entirety of the Trump Admin. Remember Admin members getting heckled in restaurants, Dem lawmakers encouraging citizens to harass them wherever they went in DC? Local businesses denying service to Admin members? It was a different time.
I'd be inclined to agree with you, except for the fact that, by pretty much any account I can remember, the Secret Service loved Trump. I can't recall exactly where I read it, but SS agents had nothing but praise for the man, who treated them with respect and let them do their jobs. If there were any leaks or sabotage coming from within the White House, it wasn't coming from them.

Contrast that with how Obama and Biden treated them, and how likely Biden and Kamala are treating them now, and it's an entirely different story. Remember, Biden forced (female, I think?) SS agents to stand guard while he skinnydipped.

yeah iirc SS was totes "there wasn't really anything to see and even if there was I didn't see nothing, dude is bro af" when it came to Trump

Soros-Backed Baltimore State's Attorney Indicted On Federal Perjury Charges

(article)
Baltimore City State's Attorney Marilyn Mosby is in trouble again. A grand jury indicted her on Thursday for lying on mortgage applications when she used the excuse COVID-19 related hardships to withdraw tax-free funds from her retirement account to purchase vacation homes in Florida, according to local news Fox Baltimore.

Mosby was among the first law enforcement officials supported by left-wing billionaire George Soros in his quest to remake the criminal justice system in the United States.

Mosby, a Democrat, lied about work-related financial hardships from COVID-19 to request early withdrawals of $90,000 from her retirement account. Under the federal CARES Act, it allowed emergency distributions of up to $100,000 in the event of a layoff, reduced work hours, and or furlough.

However, the $90,000 was used to purchase two vacation homes in Kissimmee, Florida, and Long Boat Key, Florida, in May 2020.

The indictment claims Mosby had no financial hardship due to the virus pandemic as her annual salary of $248,000 was paid in full that year.

She's been slapped with two counts of perjury originating from false statements of COVID-related financial distress and charged with making false statements on two mortgage applications.

Mosby also failed to disclose a $45,000 tax lien to the federal government. The Internal Revenue Service went after her in 2020.

Mosby's attorney, A. Scott Bolden, released this statement:

Marilyn Mosby is innocent, has been innocent, and we look forward to defending her in the court of law, and presenting evidence of her innocence to a jury of her peers. We will fight these charges vigorously, and I remain confident that once all the evidence is presented, that she will prevail against these bogus charges—charges that are rooted in personal, political and racial animus five months from her election.

None of this should come as a surprise because this is Maryland politics. Corruption and fraud go hand and hand in Baltimore City. Disgraced former Mayor Sheila Dixon was charged more than a decade ago for embezzlement. Ex-Mayor Catherine Pugh was sentenced to three years of jail in 2020 for wire fraud and conspiracy to defraud the US government. And now it's Mosby's turn to take center stage.

Mosby's husband, Nick Mosby, the president of the Baltimore city council, could be next. Let's hope newly elected Mayor Brandon Scott doesn't fall down the hole of his predecessors.
How much money did Soros drop on her that's now down the toilet?
