I'm puzzled as to how they've seemingly pissed away all those grift bucks with nothing to show for it. Fencing, 5k, solar panels, 10k, and tractor, say 10k deposit, are the only big items I can think of. For lesser stuff, add in a grand each on the staircase, the stove, the fridge, and the tarp "barn". That left them enough to pay for three or so years of fodder and time to develop a business plan to make the Tranch viable.
But they're broke. Can't afford a few hundred for a pellet maker or to fix their truck. Where did it all go? They threw a big party at shearing time which probably cost them whatever they make from wool sales, but wasn't The Great Gatsby level. Kevin buys too many robots and dinosaurs, but not tens of thousands of dollars worth. The ruling troons go out to town every day for coffee, that's 20 bucks x 350 = $7k a year. Dumb but affordable. They buy crap processed food instead of cooking, but crap processed food is fairly cheap. They've been to a couple of furry conventions, but they got one for free. They aren't noticeably better dressed. Kevin rarely changes his clothes, Jarod looks like he never does. The earthship seems to have been abandoned completely.
I don't get it. Could they really have smoked their way through $80ks of weed in a year? Have I missed something out?
They were running shitty generators till they burnt out at one point, so add in the fuel and new genny costs ontop of the fuel costs for their big truck (which they were running the recycling grift with for a while)
Then there's the alpaca feed bills, mortgage, property taxes, feeding 8 or so fat men, paying for troon meds, and other monthly overheads which their profit doesn't come near to breaking even on
They aren't really being hit too hard by big ticket splurges as by the fact that the tranch runs at a net loss (I'd be interested if anyone has an estimate of average monthly incomings/outgoings). If you're going to run as a loss you need a backer with deep pockets and a commitment to cover the shortfall long term, and their Twitter buddies are starting to get cold feet. Don't forget they're in a small pond fighting for grift dollars with every other troon appeal for surgery/rent/phone bills/art commissions, the thing TLL did right was sell their sob story outside the troon echochamber and get celebrities and generally charitable people onside, for a while at least
It is never getting released and if ever somehow is the earl attack will be a truck passing them while driving or a car driving by the property at 20mph over the speed limit.
They need to liquidate the majority of their alpaca herd for meat, maybe keep 5 around as pets for photos. Then they need divide their remaining outgoings amongst all the remaining house troons and if they're incapable or refuse to pay their share start evicting them. The field trannies all need to be charged a flat rate of rent too. The idea that anyone 'works' there is nonsense if their presence and labour isn't resulting in a net financial gain which it clearly isn't. Imagine how much cash they'd have if they all went and got minimum wage jobs.
Uhhh say 3 troons got full time minimum wage jobs in Colorado money, 12.32$, multiplied by 8 hours 5 days a week for 50 weeks (thats being generous on time off), you'd get 73,920$ before tax. Say 3 troons find part time jobs for 20 hours a week, again times 50 for days slacked off, you'd get 36,960$ before tax. Theoretically you could pull in a little over 100k, but probably a little less due to emergencies, gas, and manchild economics. But that is if at least 6 people got a job and half of them got full time jobs. Theoretically someone could make a little more or a lot less, but we'll keep it at this for now.
You'd have to have 6 serfs driving back and forth between the ranch however. Anyone could get burnt out over that. Even then, say they had 10 people including the 4 original troons left (Penny & his harem plus Sky) that'd leave you with all your serfs running out and only 2 regular troons to tend on weekdays, plus some patchy time from part timers if they could give a shit. Because Jen and Kevin are fucking useless (Jen cooks occasionally at least).

EDIT: I doubt they'd get many workers who can work over minimum wage. Penny promises a troon paradise, an oasis an hour away from a town, at least 2 from a city. You come to the ranch to work and you do it for however the fuck much Penny is paying (if any) you. The manual labor is hard and backbreaking, only the idealistic think it isn't.
Penny isn't attracting anyone with any sort of career prospects is what I'm trying to say, and considering Sky is the only one with something I'd consider skills as an RN is proof.
