Just like in the book he and Jenette wrote when he was like 12, Jazz's dubious ~awesome~ achievements, friendships, boyfriends, and greatest happiness occurred in early elementary school and faded away entirely by the end of middle school. By high school he was clinging into a couple of good test grades over the course of four years while he sat alone in his room.

His life became an empty shell from the time his peers began to mature around him, both due to his toxic family environment (your emotional maturity will be drastically different from everyone else by around thrid or fourth grade if you aren't taught healthy communication skills at home), and then later due to his suppressed puberty. By the time he got to middle school, he was at such a serious emotional deficit that he refused to attend high school at all.

I wonder if they couldn't successfully sue for him to continue to use the girls locker room in high school and that was why he stayed home? I can see Jeanette making that her hill to die on.

At any rate, Jazz just experienced the first six months of freedom that he was in no way prepared for. I wonder if he drops out during the next semester or if he makes it though year one before washing out?

Good point, although if he started in the fall, he would have gotten his grades back in December. But if Harvard doesn't release Dean's list info until the end of the school year rather than semester by semester, he might be waiting on that. Either way it's weird that he wouldn't list his collegiate accomplishments.

Even if Jazz was genuinely smart, he’d still have gotten in because he was a tv tranny. And that’s a big “even if.” Kid literally had to debate whether oats might be considered a fat or a protein. And that was like three episodes ago lol.

Since he did online high school I wouldn’t be surprised if his family just paid tutors to do the classes for him.

I noticed he didn’t cite any AP scores or even his full ACT score which would be more difficult to fake as you must sit in for them in person. I’m guessing his “college credits” were also online community college classes done by tutors while Jazz was depressed in bed.

For non-Americans, the “science” section of the ACT (he claims to have gotten a perfect score) is literally just a multiple choice reading comprehension test. Zero science knowledge asked or required. Same with all his stupid “accomplishments” about acing standardized tests in elementary school. Jazz was educated in a post-no child left behind system. These tests are stupidly easy by definition so the school district gets funding. Because trying to quantify the skill of a teacher is way easier than actually evaluating them.

While I have no doubt that Jazz has an entire life separate from what is staged on TLC (where the 'virginity losing' incident happened) I've not really seen him say anything particularly intelligent onscreen. By which I mean, something that would demonstrate critical thinking skills, or sophisticated reasoning, or even anything particularly theoretical. Standardized test scores are not all the Ivy League cares about- in fact it takes an ever-increasing range of impressive extra-curriculars because admissions is so wildly competitive. In recent years, Harvard and others have dropped SAT scores as an admission criterion because it was supposedly hindering diversity (as it advantages rich students from fancy private schools with a tutor for every subject). They do, however, definitely look for evidence of raw potential, untapped intelligence that could benefit from direction, generally, people who are fucking smart even if they haven't had the opportunity to turn that into something directly quantifiable.

Jazz can cite all the grade school grades he likes, I just don't see him demonstrate any kind of higher thinking. Not on instagram, not in the show, nothing. If anyone can think of any examples of him demonstrating any real considered thought, feel free to slap it on into the thread.
