Ukraine is not NATO, there are no treaties for the EU or NATO or the USA to honor except of course the one Russia signed with the Ukraine in 1997.

Can someone tell me the benefit Russia gets in breaking a treaty in the 21st Century? Are the natural resources of the Ukraine worth it to burn the bridge of a treaty?

Simping from “The Right”? Biden just gave Putin the green light to a “minor incursion” tonight and at the same press conference described himself as a “mainline Democrat”.

To flex on the world stage.
USA makes all these threats. Russia rolls in to the Ukraine and USA does nothing. Makes USA look like a bitch. Other nations start to question the value in putting up with the USA's bullshit. Especially after the US military was shown to be a clownshow in Afghanistan. Now is a good time for Russia and China to start making moves.

Because everyone wants a distraction from this covid nonsense.

They want to pivot away and all parties are agreeing a war is the way to go. Kind of like how world war 2 was more about staving off communist revolutions in great depression riddled countries more than it was about a bitter defeat or anything else. The great depression was literally eating the world alive in 1939 and even tho neither could afford it, britian and france went after germany and unironically almost went after the Soviet Union aswell after their invasion of finland.

“Minor incursion” is a platoon of conscripts wandering into a minefield by mistake. Ratchets tensions up further but doesn’t take diplomacy off the table.

I almost forgot back in january 2020...like way before COVID was news this guy was covering it everynight with those videos from China of people passing out and info off of wiebo.

Seems surreal looking back. Dudes coverage has generally been a bad omen
