There are too many examples how Ralph treating female employees like garbage, his behavior on his show, his comment about every single woman he encounters, the fact that he would sext random female fans and demand things of them, and accounts from people to believe he wouldn't abuse the women in his life in some way.
I do believe that May has such low self esteem, and is so preoccupied with "keeping" her current life, that she probably manipulates Ralph more than he knows, not in a smart or devious way, only as a self-preservation instinct. What I mean is that she probably pretends to be on his side, to be as angry and outraged as him, to feed his "I AM THE GREATEST/DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM BITCH?" mindset and stroke his ego, to make him madder against his enemies so that his anger doesn't fall on her.
She witnessed very early in the relationship how not giving him exactly what he wanted could get her assaulted when Faith refused the threesome, so she has probably been operating with this "please him at all cost" mindset from the start.
Again, I don't think she's smart or cunning, I just think she does it because the alternative would be to make Ralph angry, so she tries to be as vicious as him on twitter, she tries to attack his enemies, she tries to make him food to keep him pacified and do his errands for him.
