The reason Abu Dhabi's being targeted right now, for those who don't know much about Yemen, is that UAE-backed forces in the Yemeni civil war have been making a lot of gains recently. The Houthis have been bled completely dry of manpower (plenty of weapons, no one to use them) so they and their Iranian buddies are hoping they can knock the UAE out of the war by firing missiles at their capital.
Not sure if the UAE will cry uncle or double down and get more involved, but it will definitely make the Iran negotiations even dicier.

Foreign politics isn't really my specialty. That being said it seems to me to be a case where both sides have some level of a point or good reason for their actions and neither side is willing to budge or accept any form of compromise, citing those good reasons. Russia has already proven they are willing to take military action in these regards so I do think war is not unlikely.
