Articles & Happenings is the third attempt at a news board on the Kiwi Farms. It is a cursed place. Every moderator who has been assigned here has resigned within a year. During 2016, the political crossfire was so bad it spread to different boards and culminated in me banning American news discussion entirely for several months. It has been deleted in its entirety twice. There is no actual discussion here, it's people posting garbage. It leans much further right than the rest of the site and doesn't particularly conduct discussion because dissenting opinions are dogpiled by a thousand memelords posting shit they read on /pol/ without any critical analysis.

The only rules that can be enforced are empirical ones with boolean violation answers. New threads must cite a real source directly and must use the headline of the article as a thread title without any editorializing. Articles must be archived in some way and must link to the original article. Replies that are one word or a reaction images are automatic one-month bans from the board.

I'm creating this now because it seems like this place is here to stay and is one of the largest areas of the entire site. I might as well throw in bare minimum effort to improve it. I don't even try to find mods for here because they will quit, without exception. I've added new prefixes ("Business" and "Crime") just now.

"Biden News Megathread" seemed to cover that pretty well. If that's not an acceptable concept, then the only other option is to make a new thread for every article, which will be such a shit show that there's no way it won't result in moderation. I don't want to nuke an oldfag account because the rules instantly changed and now no one is sure what to do.

He's not a regular in the Trump Enslavement Thread at all. His reasoning is, however, very flimsy. The thread was not "fucking slow" by any conceivable metric and he basically admitted the thread lost its original purpose (congregating Biden articles) because he and the other jannies didn't want to do their jobs and merge articles into the thread.

This is what happens when they do it for free, I guess.

It's no secret that some groups of people here absolutely hated that thread, and with how flimsy the reasoning for shutting it was it's clear that they were using an excuse. I only wonder what discord or PM chain was behind it?

They also said it was one of the biggest threads on the site. I was under the impression that DSP was on his 2nd general news thread with the other one having over 10k pages and an entire board for posting separate incidents..

I don't doubt it's one of the biggest threads on the site, but that's honestly irrelevant. It's not as if people are struggling to load the thread, and I've had a couple of my posts in there get swept up in the past so it's not as if it's so fast/so big the jannies can't moderate it. Thread size simply isn't that big of a deal... so idk why it's seemingly being used as part of the justification for closing it.
