The virus was isolated pretty quickly when it first came out, and I've heard its "code" at the time fit on one sheet of paper. It isn't surprising the DoD/Walter Reed team figured out a vaccine like this:

My understanding here is we will gain a massive amount of protection from up to 24 active coof strains from a single series as this moves toward endemic.
