Well it was confirmed that he had a rough upbringing as a kid, and it probably didn’t help much either when you become one of the most successful youtubers at the time, you basically the entire sector of youtube, you lose a bunch of friends, fail to corporatize a group of friends, you lose your girlfriend, your son, your fiancé, your second attempt to corporatize your group of friends, and your channel is a shadow of it’s former self, and his problems are exacerbated when you smoke cigarettes and do drugs.

I know what schizophrenia does to people. the tragedy of the illness does not excuse violent offenses. domestic violence is not a symptom of schizophrenia. the vast majority of schizophrenics are not violent.

to pl moderately, it absolutely is a symptom of schizophrenia in cases. my father is severely schizophrenic, and since it got really bad about 10 years ago, he's had a complete perdonality shift with major violent incidents including against myself- it's easy to become completely clouded in delusion and say, imagine people around you are with "them" or that you need to harm yourself/others because someone in control of your life demands it. it's not that schizophrenia is inherently violent, but it certainly has the potential to do so.

that all said, it's hard to say if the chicken or egg came first- while some of the stuff here is genuine schizo behavior, like painting with your own blood, some of it seems manipulative and done with forethought which unsurprisingly isn't the strong suit of the severely mentally ill. schizophrenia isn't an always on illness, periods of lucidity come and go- it's hard to say what is and isn't illness but I do have my suspicions.

This Minecrafter had a lot more control over his actions than he'll admit to, as other posters point out, especially re: smoking himself psychotic repeatedly. As you can read in Lundy Bancroft's amazing textbook about men who should be taken out to a hunting accident, guys like Sky plan on beating their partners *before* they get drunk/high/whatever. It's so the victim blames the substance and not the guy beating them and it worked on this girlfriend for a good bit. Did he pick D-tier girls? Yeah but he picked them and then knocked them up.

I don't think any of his viewers actually knew him as an individual, and he was putting on a persona while making YouTube videos, as any online creator does. He was a grown man making a career out of creating Minecraft videos for an audience of primarily children. If you're in that position, there's no need to reveal any hint of your real personality. That's practically the easiest type of YouTube career to garner.

These people online who are "OMG, I never knew he would do this!" or "No, not him he was always my favorite ." I'm just thinking how much of this guy did you actually know? Lol you might've watched him having fun while playing Minecraft or maybe engaged in his streams but in that case, you know nothing about the real individual behind it, parasocial relationships. This man could've had issues since the start but there would be no way of telling as he was too busy playing Minecraft, you can't spot anything from simply that.

Last I remember I thought usually it was ages 15-40 that most people get diagnosed/symptoms appear. Adam is in that range. I know it usually does not develop before 12, or after 40 so he is within that age range where he could get that mental illness.

Doesn't excuse what he has done or make him not accountable for everything, but it would atleast explain his meltdown.

YouTuber Adam Dahlberg — better known by the gaming aliases Skydoesminecraft or Netnobody — was accused by a former partner of abuse, manipulation, and harassment, throughout the course of their relationship.
The claims came in a lengthy Sunday open letter to Dahlberg posted to iCloud from a woman who identified herself as Elizabeth.
Elizabeth, who said she did not share her last name over safety fears for her and her child, started her open letter writing "you abuse, you manipulate and you lie." In the letter, she accused Dahlberg of erratic behavior, trying to control her, and verbally abusing and degrading her, among other things.
Dahlberg has amassed a following of 11.2 million subscribers for streaming clips of the mega-popular building block game Minecraft.
Dahlberg, a gaming creator since 2011, identifies as nonbinary and uses they/them pronouns. Elizabeth in the letter referred to them using he/him pronouns, claiming Dahlberg was "homophobic" and "frequently disrespected the LGBTQ+ community."
Elizabeth said in the letter she was "so scared" during her relationship with Dahlberg, writing, "I felt so numb. I wanted to die."
Elizabeth did not respond to Insider's request for comment. Dahlberg likewise did not respond to Insider's request for comment but responded to Keemstar of the YouTube news channel DramaAlert via direct message. When asked if the allegations were true, Dahlberg said it was "a mix."
"I was very very sick mentally at the time, in and out of hospitals and on several new medications that were affecting me," they told DramaAlert.
In an accompanying Twitter thread, Elizabeth shared what appeared to be a copy of a police report about a February 15, 2021, incident that described Dahlberg as "angry," destroying property, and saying "nonsensical things." The responding officer wrote he believed Dahlberg was "a threat to others."
The report said Dahlberg was taken into protective custody.
The Bellevue, Washington, Police Department confirmed to Insider an officer was dispatched to Elizabeth's location at 11:04 a.m. on that date, "where someone was reported to be in a mental health crisis."
"That person was taken into protective custody and transported to the hospital for an evaluation," the spokesperson said. "The case is closed since there was no prosecution desired for property damage and no one was injured."
In her Twitter thread, Elizabeth posted screenshots and screen recordings of what she said were conversations between her and Dahlberg, where they appeared to goad and provoke her. In one voicenote, Dahlberg breathed heavily and told Elizabeth someone was giving them oral sex, adding "I don't respect you."
In other screenshots and recordings shared by Elizabeth, Dahlberg appeared to use the n-word slur and the r-slur.
Elizabeth in her letter said Dahlberg pressured her into having a baby, said they didn't seem to care when she became pregnant, and said they wouldn't provide for the family. She said Dahlberg cheated on her several times.
"You hurt me for too long, and I am tired of feeling afraid of you and what speaking up may bring," Elizabeth wrote. "I had to tell people you weren't abusive, because whenever I said you were, you would harass me and say horrible HORRIBLE things. You were so unkind."
Dahlberg painted the walls with their own blood, was repeatedly racist and homophobic, and had a desire to hurt other people, Elizabeth claimed in the open letter.

Well, just from reading what is posted in the OP, it seems quite obvious that Sky has borderline personality disorder (they're the type that keep threatening to kill themselves, but never do it in order to manipulate people), and bipolar or schizoaffective disorder (which is bipolar and schizophrenia combined.) as well as a substance abuse disorder. He obviously needs to be on meds, take the damn meds, and stay on them.

As far as all the allegations against him. I'd trust the police report, so he obviously has at least one episode of some sort, was hospitalized more than once for mental illness and treated. Beyond that, I see a bunch of accusations, and a couple where both people are mentally ill and they enjoy fighting with one another, but no actual evidence of anything else.

If I were to take a guess, it's because most of these guys got big in their teens/ early adult years so they don't really go out into the real world and wisen up from being a teenage dumbass. It seems like the most stable youtubers at least had something they were doing before they got big like Markiplier who was a fulltime student in Bio enginnering and Pewdiepie almost worked for an advertising agency before doing youtube videos
