Community Munchausen's by Internet (Malingerers, Munchies, Spoonies, etc) - Feigning Illnesses for Attention

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.
CNN is now helping proselytize the munchie standards - cnn article of whining munch
Jo.di Etten.burg is a young white former lawyer who took to travel blogging until something caused her to get a spinal tap. Afterwards, she got a headache and after a year of whining and laying flat she got into duke and took a whole slew of blood patches to cure (bonus allergic rxn to the fibrin in the patch). After feeling better for a while, she sat down and her back hurt and now she's back to her forever suffering. She experiences "brain sag", talks about eds, and her parents having to care for her. She 100% belongs here and is using CNN travel section to share her munchie story with the world. She's' also a gluten-free person. her blog is Legal Nomad blog insta is insta shit

damn, her GFM raised over 40K. She's got some solid grift happening. Gofuckme for $

Also, sad walrus is the only and best walrus. I wish we still had access to her mother's posting--it really gave a lot of insight into the damage this kind of shit does to a family.

eta insta link, and then to add gfm link....I'll stop now I promise
Read this on the news and wow, talk about munchie red flags. Her story is beyond ridiculous and of course she has EDS and MCAS and is practically bed bound. Not surprising she has a significant social media presence and a major grift going.

They are archived in the thread. Running a search for "Paige," "Mom," and "Forum" will likely return what you're looking for. I think @Kate Farms Shill uploaded them, but don't quote me on that. The screenshots have been dredged up several times and were archived here for the reason you cite. Search and you shall receive.
Thanks (not new here and capable of using the search bar), I meant new info from Paige's mom. I was pointing out how much I enjoyed them.

We'll meet Melody Hope, a 30 year old UK munchie. She lives in a nursing home and claims the usual EDS, MCAS, gastroparesis.

She has a supra pubic catheter as she lost the use of her bladder after surviving sepsis(?)

She uses a variety of splints, a catheter bag, a power chair and a feeding tube on and off

She is weight restored from a raging ED

She loves to share medical details, bodily fluids and disgusting information.

She can happily get on and off the floor but puts on a ridiculous show of "walking"

It's very sad as she is a very talented artist.

Pics below!

This makes things even weirder if you think about it. He could fuck off and work for a spine group doing T3/T4 laminectomies all day but he's decided to butcher munchies instead.
That just reads as a surgeon's God Complex getting to them. It's not enough to just be another neurosurgeon doing routine procedures. They have to be the lifeline and hero for their patients and the fewer other places that do what he does the better. These being unnecessary or even potentially harmful is beside the point to a narcissist. Extremely common in doctors and even more so in surgeons.

Did you insert all the pictures you uploaded? I'm only seeing the one. Does she live in a nursing home or a group home for people with psych issues?

Sorry I'm on my phone and it stopped uploading, there should be some more attached to this post, according to a recent video she made - I'm spending this evening learning about archiving etc she is moving to a nursing home as of this week, I'm still trawling through her stuff to find out exactly where she is! I don't have a huge amount of time so any help would be great!

Ah, gotcha -- apologies. I'm pretty sure mom has nothing to do with Paige at this point (and I wouldn't blame her). The barrier may be softening due to Paige's march away from the Earthly realm (she was seen on TikTok in some post about a birthday I think), but it's mostly dad at this point. She has mentioned her younger brother in passing, as well. Paige never "misses" mom. She only wants dad. Not sure what their dynamic is, either, and I think an older sister also distanced herself from Paige.

The videos are just her looking at the camera while a generic sad-ish song plays. Really nothing special, so I just took screenshots. Username is dying_stardust if you really really want to see the videos yourself.

Bonus funny comment from transparentmunchie!
There were some others saying that it's okay and she can rest now, but mostly was "oh I'm so worried, you're such a strong warrior fighter, I will pray for you"
I'm trying to create a timeline for Paige in full. I have her current instagram and tiktok, but I know there was a previous Instagram. It was mentioned that this group had archived the previous instagram. I tried my best to find it, but I can't. Does anyone have the link to some old archives reguarding Paige?

I have no empathy for the blood patch munchies because I just know they manipulated a doctor into performing a spinal tap in the first place. Welcome to the consequences of your own actions.

I’m gonna try not to PL here too much but I will say, I’ve had the blood patch done thanks to a fucked epidural and it took 3 days to correct.

Why anyone would volunteer for a procedure they don’t need that even has a slight risk of needing a spinal blood patch is so far beyond me… I can’t even comprehend that level of lunacy. That shit is so miserable that I would break my own legs 100 times, Misery style before I would ever experience a hole in my spinal fluid again.

Imagine needing attention so badly that you would willingly suffer like that so that people would feel sorry for you. Jesus. I guess the silver lining is that at least they’re inflicting their stupidity upon themselves. The only thing worse than a munchie is a munchie by proxy. Sadly, I’m sure there have been plenty of cases where people have willingly put their kids or whoever was depending on them through this very specific version of hell. I don’t want to think about it but unfortunately, it’s more than likely reality.

I can’t even get my head around this shit sometimes. People can be really, really terrible.

Taps are not that unusual or extreme most of the time, though. They are used, for example, in cases of chronic migraine, suspected MS, suspected meningitis, and more boring stuff. I expect most of them lied their way to it, sure, but there's an element of melodrama they've added that everyone else seems to be believing.

It's basically pinch, a nap, and a possible headache. I always laugh when they act like it's major surgery. Besides, their to lower gauge needles that make blood patches even rarer, so what will the munchies do!?

I thought the comment was implying that there was a hole left in the spinal fluid after the procedure was done. Maybe I misread. That’s why I needed the blood patch, personally.

That’s usually the reason why a patch is done, yep. Holes that need patching would probably be due to the doctor doing it not being very good at them, the patient moving during one or multiple attempts being needed to get access. Headaches are extremely common after a tap and any medical professional is going to want to avoid an unnecessary surgery even something as simple as a blood patch which is why they like to wait to see if it resolves on its own but munchies love to cry medical neglect at this point. Spinal headaches can be brutal, no doubt, but if someone is able to stand 6 hours a day like that munchie posted upthread then I doubt it’s serious enough for a patch. The rare people I’ve come across genuinely needing a patch can barely do shit like raise their head high enough to put on a pillow but are right as rain and go straight back to their baseline health after a patch or two and a few hours rest afterwards as an example compared to her and her ilk.

I think what Dnein is trying to say (I’m sorry if I’ve misunderstood) is that the initial tap is a simple procedure which munchies like to make out as some major thing when it’s just done by one or two doctors outside of an operating theatre and only takes a minute or so. Not much more involved than a blood draw for the patient apart from needing to lay down for an hour or two afterwards. Epidurals for child birth are more involved and done way more regularly, lol.

I’m already sperging about blood patches so for kiwis that don’t know, they’re done by drawing the patients own blood and injecting it into the same epidural space of the spinal cord. It works by the blood then clotting around the hole or holes which seals them up. Their failure rate is sorta high (around 70% success rate off the top of my head…don’t quote me on that though) so repeat ones might be needed until it sticks but overall they’re extremely straightforward with little risk involved.

I’m another one with zero sympathy for these idiots shilling for attention and shekels based off these simple as fuck procedures.

edit: fucked my spoiler tags

Is there still a backup of her old instagram?
I am not KFS, but you quoted a more than two-year-old post, so my speculation is: I don't believe so. Paige is, in general, kinda boring. It's all weird melodrama and kind of nebulous. She is iconic for her sad walrus status, but even that is nothing more than her in lipstick or something with double nose hoses. Currently, her tiktok is kinda meh (as we have mentioned previously). It's all her lipsyncing (poorly) to the same sad songs with text over it. I'm quite sure she nuked her Instagram and no one saw fit to archive it because she isn't forthcoming with information or explanations. She's here for the asspats only, and doesn't talk business. She's always dying; I guess, hence the previous handle, Forever Dying Stardust or whatever it was. Now she's just Dying Stardust. I suppose "Forever" is a given at this point.

PS: Since you're quite new, please make sure to read the OP and hit the highlights as much as you can through the post if you're not up for a full read. Also venture out of this thread and into other tangentially-related ones. The Farms is a vast place with its own set of social mores. Document, archive, upload, and thumbnail your phone screenshots or you're gonna shit up the thread. When in doubt, lurk around more. Please keep your arms and hands inside the vehicle at all times, etc.

Thank you so much for the response! I've been trying to create a timeline for Paige from the very beginning (and like you mentioned- it has been very tedious and she has been giving us very little in return lol). I appreciate the advice, thank you!
