Speaking of which, update on the Biden NY visit.

Apparently it resulted in plans that include increased funding for cities and states to help place more officers on the streets, investments in community violence prevention and intervention programs and stepped up federal law enforcement efforts against illegal gun trafficking.

Meanwhile Hochul announced a new interstate task force on illegal guns, working with nine northeastern states to stop them. The new mayor released a "blueprint" including adding officers at the Port Authority bus terminal, increasing mental health services and pushing for changes to bail reform.

The bus thing is going to end badly.

Two officers have died in the past 5 years or so doing this including one in Virginia, and the other out west somewhere but I forget exactly where.

The Virginia one was a state trooper was on a training exercise where the apparently stop random people and search them. Frankly the whole thing doesn't sound very constitutional. Anyway the guy took some offense to it and shot the officer in the head.

It's only been blowing back at you for the last several years and the feedback went up by a factor of twenty during the Summer of Love, 2020. 'But muh gun violence!' doesn't work any more.

I see that stupid whore Hochul doesn't mention actually prosecuting violent felons and keeping their asses locked up, which would help quite a bit. But I'm not surprised by that.

I remember years ago someone posted on 4chan about how interns and guides would refer to rooms as 'this is where blank happened on the West Wing'. They wouldn't give any historical insight, they'd just jerk off Aaron Sorkin's writing. I think the anon in question was a foreigner so it was even more jarring because why wouldn't you bring up important shit rather than a TV show.

I do have a fairly leftwing cousin who works in DC and it does not sound too out there. I imagine that it's the Harry Potter for Gen X/ Millennial interns because from what I saw of West Wing it's basically a smug power fantasy in-line with shit like Parks and Rec.

I think the democrats would be better served to run on another culture war issue like the federalized abortion law they describe as protecting women's health. With all the lockdowns and changes to society to "build it back better," there's NOTHING that is going to rile up Republicans and independents more than a proposed gun grab. This administration is ruinously unpopular and playing with fire as it is. Unless they want backlash or are planning to false flag some? Hey, they're the ones saying false flag this and false flag that, how do we know what they say is planned overseas isn't being planned by them over here?

I know nothing about the stock market, and it's all bullshit to me, so take this with a grain of salt.

Facebook, even losing 26% today, is still above where it was pre-pandemic. Actually that's a good measurement because Facebook was $222 on January 17, 2020, dropped all the way to under $150 in March, and was back to $225 by the end of May. So while never a one day drop, it has dipped and come back before.

I think Facebook, Netflix, crypto, utlities are all dropping because the pandemic, for lack of a better word, is kind of "ending". We are up to 5 European countries that have decided to just drop all restrictions with Sweden announcing it today. I think all the stocks that thrived when everyone was locked down are now going back to pre-COVID levels.

Or I could be imagining this. I hate the stock market because to me, it's just a bunch of shit happening with no real rhyme or reason.
