I wonder how much of this had to do with the Kim Petras videos? Kim is currently trying to promote himself as a self-proclaimed slut. I got put on birth control before I ever had sex due to period issues. At the time, it was a pill packet that had several days of white pills that were just placebos.

I remember when I traveled overseas, I asked if I could skip the placebos and continue with the hormone pills so I would skip a period. I was told no by several doctors because it was then believed that you had to let your body go through its regular hormonal cycle, or it was dangerous.

That was proved to be false, there's no evidence that preventing your period hormonally via BC has any long term ill effects.

But it's interesting how we went from being on the safe side and advising women against playing with their hormonal cycle to just encouraging puberty blockers and believing they have no long term consequences.

Then sometimes I've encountered Yuri/lesbian media made by mtfs or males and they are very masculine in how they present it. Not to say that actual gays and lesbians don't do that same thing, some do similar styles and of course it depends on the author. Although many times you can observe how some gays and lesbians make their own homo stories. Like gays are exactly like the straight males in which it's assertive or aggressive, masculine, have exaggerated body proportions and hyper sexual while lesbians have sensitive, angsty and romantic stories.

It's the sort of place where people very openly talk about how Franco was based.

Anything to do with Catholicism online that's mainly used by young people is going to be very, very traditional because my generation of Catholics is arguably the most socially conservative since Vatican II.

This is more demographics than anything. If you speak to young muslims on campuses you'll find that a lot of them, a lot more than people assume, fall in line with the beliefs of their generation. It's coming later because a lot more of them are recent migrants, but they normalize to the baseline pretty fast. Expect the tone to shift in the next decade, with a lot more people in those subreddits pushing for trans acceptance. To be clear, it's not going to be universal acceptance, but it's going to be inline with religious young people like young catholics.

That depends where you are.

Young Muslims in secular environments like gender studies courses which outwardly encourage people to support LGBT ideology are obviously going to support it enthusiastically, but young Muslims in places like Bradford where imams literally preach about "jihad by the sword" absolutely hate troons.

Kind of tangential- I'm not sure if it was here or in a discussion elsewhere, but I read someone's thought recently about the tranny shit in it's current form being a result of the way we have begun to view identity as something completely intrinsic and internal and not like, something that other people kind of ascribe to you based on your behaviour. Which is how we have lunatics talking about how very gay they are while having zero attraction to and never fucking the same sex, or actively having sex with the opposite sex- it's no longer a description of behaviour but a prescribed subcultural label that supposedly belies a deep inner feeling and sense of self, which is such insane horseshit it frankly amazes me.

Turns out he was a (sort of) functioning adult before he started doing the retarded 'uwu Ivy wants cuddles and plushies' thing.
Here's what I found out:

His real name is Joel Wilson. Autism was already a big part of his life, but he actually seemed to be doing ok, making a seemingly successful career for himself in autism and disability advocacy/consultancy. In 2013 he was chosen to be part of a Future Leaders program for autistic people of Australia & New Zealand, where he was trained in things like public speaking, advocacy and working with boards and comittees. He spoke at and helped organize some high-profile conferences and was part of a youth delegation that went to the UN in New York. Joel has mentored autistic children and worked with and for various autism and disability organizations, including a job as communications officer (which he lost due to bad health and some kind of disability funding cut). He managed to buy his own home in 2017 (that he sold again in 2020). He was also a student (communication/media/journalism) but dropped out of 3 universities because of mental illness and not getting enough support.

I'm not sure if it was here or in a discussion elsewhere, but I read someone's thought recently about the tranny shit in it's current form being a result of the way we have begun to view identity as something completely intrinsic and internal and not like, something that other people kind of ascribe to you based on your behaviour.

That's one of these things I've wondered about on occasion. The concept of "identity" as something not only defined by you and you alone, but also completely sacrosanct, is very new. And it's also very damaging.

Allow me to put my boomer hat on for a moment and say this: when I was growing up everybody had a nickname at school. Barely anyone was called by their name, even if the nickname was just a variation on it. Your name is Brooke? Congratulations, everybody calls you Brooks now. Kid transferred in whose name is actually Brooks? Well, he's got a bowl cut so we're calling him Lloyd (from Dumb & Dumber). The just about only time you'd hear someone's real name was when school staff was talking to them. But I digress: my point is that you didn't pick your nickname. It was something assigned to you by the kids around you (and occasionally by one of the teachers). Was it rife for bullying? Sometimes, yeah. I spent my freshman year of high school dodging a really embarrassing nickname, and some people were just plain unlucky. But for good or bad your "identity" was also affected by your community, because that's where you were at, physically. What you did, and the consequences of your actions, affected your "identity". There were absolutely more rebellious kids who insisted that they "wouldn't be labeled", but even within their own cliques they had their own nicknames and their own roles to play.

Once the internet became popular everybody in it realized they could just not use their real names and instead embrace whatever pseudonyms they wanted, and use different "identities" in different places if they wanted to. This disconnection from reality feels like it was the first step towards the plague of troons we are wading through now: these people who started experimenting with different "identities" in secret on the early internet (preserving one's anonymity was important back then) paved the way to people whose identity is so completely internet-centric they don't accept the idea of being assigned anything by the people around them (see: AMAB/AFAB). And now these people are trying to enforce their internet identity upon the real world, and they're screeching when they realize it's a lot harder than just putting a checkmark on "female" on a social media website signup page.

This is just too fucking dumb. I'm going to stop waving my cane at the internet now. Where's my rocking chair? Why are these dang kids on my lawn?

This TIF's trooning, like many other troons, probably wouldn't have happened if someone just told them that being a masculine woman (or effeminate man for TIMs) isn't inherently a bad thing and that it sure as hell doesn't make them the opposite gender. Honestly can't help but feel bad for people who troon out for this reason. They genuinely just feel like they don't belong and then they get enabled/groomed into trooning.
