Only for Labour to go to its greatest defeat since 1935 and continue to lose seats it had held for a century or more as places rebelled against the rotten hand that had held them forever.

The cops on the ground realize this is an unsolvable problem of scale. They can't arrest everyone carrying a jerry, they can't search everyone carrying a jerry, and they can't realistically stop the diesel from getting in to the protest. They are basically like border patrol at the US-Mexico border right now trying to stop fentanyl.

The cops barely want to be there and more likely than not some are helping the truckers out of sight. Either indirectly by insction or directly by collaboration.

Anyone else seen those high school debate teams where they sperg off a pre-written statement of gobbledy-gook as quickly as they can?
That's what this city council meeting reminds me of. They all have their canned statements and are rattling them off as quick as they can in the small amount of allotted time they are given. All so that they can point to something for their constituents. "See! I told them the thing!"

More than that, if it really gets down to the wire and protestors start covertly carrying the cans (in bags, etc.), it will mean that the police will basically have to set up checkpoint inspections everywhere for all pedestrian traffic with full bag inspections. That's going to be a massive bearhug themselves.

And ultimately, they'll still be left with the problem of trying to tow all the big rigs out of there. There is no easy win for the cops to end this outside of the protestors leaving of their own volition. If they went in and shot literally every protestor, it would still take a week of round the clock wrecker operations to get all the vehicles out of there.

The cops and politicians are blustering because they know the only way they can win easily is if the protestors quit.

Obviously police cars use unique keys just like any other automobile.

Actual LE handcuff manufacturers don't produce "kink-models", and whatever keys those people make for their "toys" are irrelevant. Two very different markets, two very different products.

S&W dominates the LE handcuff market. The majority of their keys are identical. They do make a different key for a special high security cuff, but around 90% of the cuffs and leg-irons in use today use the original key design, which is a simple hollow barrel with a single lobe of metal to cam the internal lock.

There's a reason why aftermarket "universal handcuff keys" are such good sellers at cop-shops.

Viva is talking to randoms on the street. Every single one Most are from downtown Ottawa. I've only seen one single detractor. There was just a cute old couple there who were very articulate. He asks all of the if they heard any horns blowing, sounds like a lot of that was overblown (see what I did there?). I will clip it later.

As someone who misspent a significant fraction of his youth in the kink world, don't underestimate the autism of the scene, nor its commitment to veracity. I was a rope guy not a cuffs guy, but knowing people, there are many folks who like "legitimacy" in their roleplay/etc. It would surprise me greatly if the boundary between the two is as definite you're suggesting.

There is no way their masks weren't compromised in some way for them to wear them whilst physically exerting themselves in the cold. Something tells me Dr. Pajeet isn't being fully truthful here. 🤔

They have to be for when they exchange prisoners in custody. Often they trade cuffs. So cop #1 from some organization gives cop #2 from a different organization a cuffed prisoner. Then cop #1 replaces cop #2's cuffs with the set from his own belt. Besides that, its just a general safety issue. Say if an accident happens with a prisoner in the vehicle and the driver is incapacitated. Even some paramedics and firemen will carry a spare cuff key with them. They're widely available on sites like ebay. This type is very popular:
