I mean... this wasn't the worst idea in the world, it's the execution that's mind-bogglingly bad. Lots of women worry about their genitals looking normal, it's not like women see a great many of other women's bits to compare. You can buy coffee table books just filled with vulvas that seek to do the same thing, to reassure by providing an example of the wide range of normal. It is, at least, a constructive and helpful impulse.

But. The whole set up of a series 'Is my patient normal?' is <shakes head>. She's just so socially awkward and tactless throughout the whole thing. As if she's struggling to speak human. I'm not that surprised as I imagine a lot of surgeons are a little weird (I could not, for example, merrily cut and paste with someone's body, but I am glad there are people who do) but for goodness sake know your strengths and weaknesses and don't try to be a public educator if you can't tell if something is super offensive or not.

After watching this it makes a lot of sense to me that she went into troon surgery. All those girls wanting their 'teets yeeted' are too busy worrying if they're acting like a bro to notice that someone else is trying hard to act like a human being.

I could understand if it were a problem with function requiring surgery, like correcting fistulae or something, but that's usually urology, obstetrics or gynaecology rather than plastics. (Why is a plastic surgeon doing all these?) To talk about surgery purely for aesthetics, in a part of the body that has so many important functions, god damn. I cringed so much watching it that that's my kegels done for an entire year.
I think the problem is that she and all of these SRS plastic surgeons really do see it as, like you said, merrily cut and paste with a body. Like their patients are Mister Potato Heads that they can play with - and their patients are young, naive, mentally ill and uninformed about medicine so they believe them when they promise them the moon. Lots of surgeons are sociopaths, it's a bit of a stereotype, but this goes beyond that. It's one thing to heal someone's illness by doing no more cutting than is necessary, this is something else. Ironically Dr Jess Ting said it best while he and Bowers were flaying a 17-year-old Jazz Jennings's genitals, "if you don't have to cut this, why would you cut this?"
