I wanna jump in on point 1 cos I think it's one step away from the (potential) truth and is too easily dismissed out of hand. The odds of the virus being manmade are incredibly low, minor powerlevel but I've studied microbiology and gen-eng (actual, college degree studied); we don't have the technology at present to develop something of this sort, and even if we did there'd be obvious markers that it was manmade. Assuming the technology to develop SARS-Cov-19 does exist there are a million better things you could do with this knowledge, nefarious or benevolent.

What I believe to be much more likely is that the virus had been discovered well before the outbreak (note, there's a virology lab in Wuhan), and it was accidentally or intentionally spread from there due to a lapse in procedure. The CCP then intentionally bungled their response for two reasons:
1. New spooky bug lets them shut down the HK protests.
2. If the entire world gets infected as opposed to just China, they stop themselves from being the only economic victim of the epidemic.

Yep I'll cop that I jumped the gun and needed to read a bit more before speaking. I'm reading some more recent stuff now in pursuit of being less of a fuckwit.

Article below does a better job than yours explaining things imo. One gripe I have with the one you linked is it claims RaTG13 is synthetic when it was isolated from bats in 2013. Also, BLAST only captures what's been sequenced in laboratories and shared, it's possible there are multiple natural links from 2013 to 2019 between RaTG13 and SARS-Cov-2 that simply weren't looked at. Unlikely, but possible.

I'm not in that coastal hell hole anymore so I can't directly say, to be honest. I get the semi-regular updates from a friend that still thinks the state of Washington is peachy keen.

It won't be for as long as "data daddy" inslee and his bizarre fuckin cult of personality runs the show.

Edit: a reliable source for an ear to the street of the goings on would be Dori Monson's show. He's been a thorn in Olympia's side for yeeaaars.

You're right, sorry I should have been more clear. I've been too exposed to the crackpot bioweapon theory and tend to laser in on that. The technology to develop something like the rona as a bioweapon from the ground up doesn't exist. I've been out of the loop on the newer theories so had to take a minute to do some more reading. Disregard my points on the broader implications of such tech, they're irrelevant and I'm a dumbshit.

I'll correct myself now because I have been a peanut brain: it's a definite possibility that specifically the spike-protein mutation which allowed the virus to infect humans came from the Wuhan lab, BUT this would have been done for research reasons and I don't believe it was released on purpose.

I stand by my original points as to the why and how, but will happily concede that the mutation which allows SARS-Cov-2 to infect humans could very well have been engineered, that's within the scope of both modern tech and the Wuhan lab. I will also say though that this mutation, if it were engineered, was not produced for outwardly malicious reasons (i.e. not a bioweapon).

Forgive me for not doing my due diligence before opening my mouth.

Hey as someone who has never been to any school whatsoever, it always gives me joy and validation when I ask questions that causes college or university educated people to reconsider positions in their respective fields.

Your new position does raise a new question. You say it would have been done for research reasons rather than intentional release. How could you possibly know something like that for sure? Why do you rule out that kind of psychopathic motivation by default, especially when there has been no public investigation/questioning of the people involved?

They're right though. Drain Todger is a turbosperg and that makes him good at parsing information and piecing it together, but he's not actually qualified to make any statements on the origins of covid. He's a marine engineer or something like that. He did a good job with the letter and seems to have gotten a lot of things right but he also included the ramblings about graphene and mind control.
