Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

So he just did a complete u-turn on his Disney comic circlejerk from a few weeks ago where he was telling everyone to go read Aphra and Vader to now exclaiming that "this is fine" and trying to find excuses for why he doesn't care for the disney comics anymore now after disney proved once again that their continuity is more broken and less consistent than ever. This guy is switching takes faster than the speed of sound to make sure it aligns well with whatever new decision Disney or Filoni makes. The man is truly Bike Cuck incarnate.
I have no desire to watch these Disney shills' videos because I don't think I have the tolerance for that much soy, but it does amuse me to hear about how some of them are edging just a little bit closer to their breaking point. I get SWT's got his whole "star wars saved my life" schtick, so it's gonna be a lot harder for him to actually turn on the Rat, but it's nice to see even a single crack in the facade.

Remember, Disney canon was supposed to be more cohesive and well thought-out than the EU because it was going to be planned out from the start (pffthahaha). Instead, in under a decade, it's even more convoluted and contradictory than the EU ever was, with pretty much every writer brought onboard going around and retconning whatever they feel like because they want the story to go their way. Fuck weaving your story into a bigger tapestry, just throw any garbage idea in there and declare it canon now!

Let's take them one by one shall we?

Now I don't know how much Disney has blown marketing these books - though its supposedly a ton - they're cratering, even by the standards of the Disney Star Wars books. You're seeing massive drop offs between each book, and the paperbacks are seeing 90 percent drops from the hardcovers. They had one success - the first Star Wars book not written by Timothy Zahn to sell over 100k copies since the first Chuck Wendig novel that launched Disney's EU. But they're even underselling other Disney Star Wars books, much less old EU material.

The latest paperbacks of the original Thrawn trilogy - the "Essential Legends collection editions dropped last year - have each sold over 25k copies, Heir to the Empire over 50k, and these books are almost 30 years old, and have several million copies in print. Zahn's second Thrawn Trilogy for Disney range between 80k and 50k sales, his first each sold over 100k each. Hell, Zahn's solo stuff for Baen outsells some of the High Republic novels.

The Alphabet Squadron novels had a high mark of 20k total... and the last book barely broke 10k. Galaxy's Edge? Same deal.

The Rogue One tie in novel sold over 30k. It had the highest sales of any tie in book to the Sequel Trilogy other than the one for Force Awakens.

In other words, for all their marketing of The High Republic, they've sunk to selling about as poorly as Alphabet Squadron and Galaxy's Edge in under two years, and are on occasion, doing even worse. And decades old EU reprints often outsell both... much less Timothy Zahn doing his thing.

I figured sales numbers for The High Republic might be interesting to this thread.

Star Wars Theory has an existential crisis over wasting his time reading the CANON™ comics.

5:53 “When it comes to the movies and shows the comics don’t matter they can change things on a whim if they need to if it serves the story better which leaves me to wonder what the hell in the comics is legit and what isn’t and to be honest I’m kind of okay with that because there are some things in the comics, especially the new ones with Vader between Episode V and VI that I just find weird”

This shit is why Uncle George had different levels of canon, with the movies superseding everything. It's so retarded bringing Clone Wars characters into the official continuity because that nonsense was EU crap. Now you have an elderly Booba playing Dances with Wolves with Danny Trejo.

Is the Book of Fett over now? Did any of the spoilers come true?

Finale is tomorrow. I don't think the guys from Bad Batch showed up, but that's all I can recall.

This man turned 90 three days ago.

Daily reminder that not only was John not allowed to use the London Symphony Orchestra but JJ and Lucasfilm made him conduct the music with no scenes from the film to aid him, so aside from Rey's Theme(which was only used in TFA) NONE of the new music was inspired or unique in anyway. I know I posted about this before but just compare the credits music from ROTS and ROS it is a complete night and day difference in tone and quality.

What a complete waste of that man's talent.

I unironically think ROTS has the best soundtrack of any of the Star Wars films. Meanwhile the only track I can even remember from the Sequels is Rey's Theme and it sounds like it was made from cobbled together leftovers from the Harry Potter soundtrack.

I legit don’t remember any track from the ST the only score I remember is Lando showing up with the bullshit civilian fleet out of nowhere.

(That was classic OT heroic music, actually made me smile when I had been grimacing throughout the film)

On the offical Star Wars website, All the doomcuck followers and filoni fags who thought the ST would be "decanonized" must be on sucide watch now

Imagine the legendary Luke Motherfucking Skywalker swoops in, tells you have magic powers, says he will train you to use a lightsaber, and then you will become a jedi!

Then you show up at his "temple" and it's just a hut made of rocks in the middle of nowhere.

I would turn to the dark side immediately.

They’ll bury their heads in the sand and deny it until a four year old Ben Solo appears on screen.
OK but hear me out here. If some goofy little young Adam Driver looking kid shows up and they never actually call him Ben that must mean he's actually Jacen Solo even if we never see Jaina. Filoni's going to throw out the Sequels any day now and he's just going along with it to pull the wool over KK's eyes, just trust the plan.

Of course he's switching sides. You expect conviction and commitment to a firm stance from the people who went from shitting on Disney for TLJ, the praising them for that Deepfake Luke Garbage on Blando, to shitting on them again for Gina Carano's firing, only to get back on the hype train just in time for Cabbage Patch Clones and Book of Blorba Fett?

These are the kind of people whose ire and determination to "never support Disney again" lasts only as long until the Mouse buys back their loyalty with another Hallway Scene or dumbass TCW Cameo.

They're drooling sheep of the highest order. And they deserve every bit of shitty content that they get.

Not even any refreshments and you have to sleep on the grass. Harry Potter didn't have to put up with this shit.

I asked for this back in 2015 when Mark, Carrie, and Harrison were all still alive, and the fanboys/media told people like me to piss off. But watch this happen and play out exactly as written after they've already ruined everything.
I hope Favreau does it, I just want to see them seethe more than after the Mando Season 2 finale with Luke.

So is Filoni the Rick Berman or the Alex Kurtzman of Star Wars?
He's the Braga of SW.

I'd like to see either a definitive break from the Suckquels or a complete validation. That way I can have my cheap member berries and take my chances with UFC Pete & Wolfboy on a leash or I can finally go back to not caring at all about a castrated franchise. The minute it's 100% clear they intend to write only a lead-up to Kyle Lauren I'm reinstating the Laser Master series as the best Star Wars.

Seriously, why are Jedi temples in Disney canon so damn boring? Like look at this shit:

Would anybody want to spend years of their lives training here, or an actual fucking building from the current century? It's like they thought since Yoda lived in a hut in a swamp all Jedi should live like they're homeless. The top pic looks like a a mix of a church from a suburban neighborhood and the US Capitol building. The creativity is awe inspiring.

Fun reminder that there's no way that Crylo and his pride parade killed all the people at Jake's school by themselves.

To be fair, it's not like Luke had a lot of capital to hire a architect with.

A bit late, but are people honestly freaking out over comics/books getting retconned by shows/films?

Hasn't this literally *always* been a thing since the very start? Weren't there Boba Fett stories that got retconned when he was revealed to be a clone in Episode II? Wasn't the *first* actual Star Wars novel retconned by the revelation that Luke and Leia were siblings? I'm a hair above "casual" Star Wars fan and I seem to recall this stuff so why are Star Wars fanatics suddenly surprised it's happening in Disney Wars?

This is why people need to really chill out when it comes to canon and find things outside of entertainment properties to base their lives/personality around. It's all made up shit, just enjoy the parts you like and disregard the rest.

Well, Banana Time convinced me that the Jedi Party Saga is the only way you can get an entertaining and coherent story out of Disney Wars, so I've already accepted it as the real canon.

Yes and no.

In the old days, Star Wars canon was divided into various levels, with G-Canon (the core movies plus whatever George said) being the highest of all. Any entry in a higher tier would automatically override anything in a lower tier, so if there was a conflict, it was easily and immediately resolved. It helped that there were dedicated people like Leland Chee keeping the canon consistent overall.

When Disney took over, they explicitly stated when they wiped the EU that the new canon would put everything on the same level. It didn't matter if it was a movie, TV show, novel, comic, video game, or some random tweet from a lore account, everything was canon and all of it mattered. Except now this meant that in order to get the full story, or even a mostly complete story, you'd have to hunt down all of the other supplementary material. It used to be that you could just watch the movies, have a full story, and completely ignore the EU if you wanted to. Under Disney, they left out so much of the plot and worldbuilding from the movies because they figured that it'll all be taken care of by someone else.

Retcons have happened before, it's true, but never to this extent. Especially towards the end, you had writers working together with Lucasfilm to make sure their stories all fit together in the overall canon. Under Disney, it seems like you can't go more than a week without something else being changed because the writer either didn't know or didn't care that they were retconning something.

I don't feel like getting into another long discussion about why canon is important to fiction (lord knows I opened a can of worms last time), so I'll just wrap up by saying that you should at least care that the stories you enjoy are consistent and not likely to be changed every time some hack writer shows up to "improve" the story.
