the most soul crushing thing a narcissist can experience is rejection, especially over things they can’t control. His narc mind probably brooded over it so much that he came up with any and all excuses to tear down the break ups’ reasoning - you can’t reject me on the grounds of being a lesbian, if I can be a lesbian too.

i was struck by the feeling the other day that we may have gotten it all wrong. i’m not sure Oliver is trying to skinwalk Contra at all, or at least, Nyk is not his only obsession. stop me if you’ve discussed this here before, but i just watched Fleabag for the first time the other day and i think Oliver is trying to skinwalk Phoebe Waller Bridge.
Phoebe Waller Bridge is:
- a tall brunette British woman with strong facial characteristics who is also extremely beautiful and feminine
- clearly posh yet still relatable
- professionally educated, smart and well spoken
- snarkily funny, talented, and accomplished

Hmm... he doesn't quite give off the same vibe as Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who's posh but generally comes across as unpretentious - you're not likely to see her getting primped and preened in the mirror as b-roll, and her humour is self deprecating in a way you'd never get with Princess Ollie (e.g. talking about doing a flash poo in Pret and pretending she hadn't washed her hands, or saying "sometimes I worry I wouldn't be a feminist if I had bigger tits") since his humour pretty much demeans other people, and when he wants to try to be down to earth he just wheels out his terrible Geordie schtick.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge also dresses far more casually than Ollie (other than red carpets) - partially because she's an actual woman and not a theatrical production of one, but also while (very) stylish she's just a fairly casual dresser. She could have come up with excuses for elaborate gowns etc (as she does for the character Villanelle in Killing Eve) but what does Fleabag wear to a wedding? A floral tea dress with sensible flats. The only time Ollie's on camera in something non-ridiculous is when he was in that BTS and was trying to communicate "Look I'm dressed down because it's a BTS".
She's not "extremely beautiful" or anything like a glamour model, but she's fairly attractive in an unconventional way. She doesn't help herself with her facial expressions either (she's very expressive and animated, so not massively photogenic) although she does ok sometimes:
Much of her appeal comes from her charm and personality.

I think the PWB comparison is super interesting and not something I have ever thought about because PT is so unlike her in everyway lol even though you have drawn a lot of parallels. Also for the record PWB is stunning, effortlessly charming and can actually rock a jumpsuit. She has a gamine beauty - which thinking about it now no troon could ever successfully ape. They can do pornified womanface or etherial androgeny but anything else is outside their wheelhouse.
