ETA Also at his current usage if he has been at that same level for a while it is going to destroy his liver and kidneys he can’t keep it up.

If you want a quick and dirty list of his most memorable fat bastard antics, I would recommend looking the The F Ralph Festival, Kino Casino episode 2. They knock out the top 10 or 12 things before the last 2 weeks or so. From there on theres a hell of a lot, but it should be easily found.

Why does anyone think he's gonna go through withdrawal or DTs? Quitting drinking for Ralph has historically meant reducing drinking to maintance doses and trying to mask it during the show. We've heard this song and dance countless times. Just like when he quit drinking after his Mammy bought the farm.

I think because people recognize he’s probably beyond maintenance drinking at this point. He can’t just drink one or three to maintain, he’s got to drink a pint or more. He’s achieved the “can’t drink at all” level of alcoholism that means one drink must lead to ten. He can’t just have a few, he has no control.

The X factor is how many pills he can get his hands on to keep from getting shitfaced drunk. If he takes enough xanies he can just pass out most of the day so that will lessen his booze intake I guess.

Ralph is way too deep into the alcoholic rabbit hole to dig himself out without professional help. A year ago he probably could have paid for it with superchat revenue. Now? He's up shit creek without a paddle unless he makes a drastic change, and even then by all external appearances it's far too late to arrest his downward spiral. It's getting to the point where he probably would have been better off getting sent back to prison.

Maybe he means the restraining order violation cases in CA — the ones he previously said he probably wasn’t even going to show up for.

Violating a restraining is like a fine up to $1k at most and he’s not even a California resident, so they can’t do much to make him pay. Weird that he’d consider that a “legal battle” but then again he’s completely destroyed his life over a few jokes online so I guess it’s possible he sees everything as a “battle.”

(I figure he says this to try and squeeze a bit more pity donos from dumb pay pigs who still think Ralph has some custody battle for a son he’s never even claimed paternity of.)

Not even trying to by hyperbolic: Isn't there like a 25% chance Ralph just fucking dies from withdrawal if he quit drinking cold turkey at this point?
Of course if there's one thing Ralph's good at, it's skirting disaster and landing squarely in hilarious inconvenience instead.
Edit: I just realized Ralph is going to self-medicate benzos through his withdrawal, so make that a 50/50 chance he keels over.

While I agree, some alcoholics can go short bursts without alcohol which helps them into believing they have mastery over their addiction. That usually leads to deeper addiction.

Ralph's plan for sobriety will be the same one he had the last time. He's going to decide that he can just replace booze with weed. The result of this will also be the same as the last time because at the end of it he'll pick up another vice and go back to liquor on top of that, which is exactly what he did with pot. This time I'm sure he'll come to the conclusion that any other drugs count as weed, so we might get to see him doing lines at some point.

I can only imagine it because I’ve seen lots of people recover who were far worse off than Ethan is now. It’s not probable, but it’s possible.

There’s a saying I think of a lot when observing lolcows, one that many recovered drunks utter when reflecting on their addiction history: “Things got worse faster than I could lower my standards.” Alcoholic or not, we’re human and we go through shit. It’s inevitable. And we each get to choose how shitty we want our lives to get, and how much we want to suffer, before we get back on track.

Love and pain are great motivators, and the faster Ethan puts his ego aside and cries “Uncle!” the better off he’ll be. There’s no bonus points for letting things get worse and worse before you decide to join the winning team. You don’t have to wait until you get a DUI, wreck a marriage, lose a job, etc. Having a high tolerance for emotional pain can really work against a person in this situation.

If Ethan really was raped by his father as a child, he’s probably spent years thinking nothing else could ever hurt more. With the humiliation and consequences he’s experiencing now, he’s finding out that he was mistaken.
