That's an oldie but a goodie. I can't remember exactly where I've seen it before (I want to say either in the wallstreetbets GameStop fiasco or the Kyle Rittenhouse trial coverage) but it was peak Reddit and I think I had the screenshot as my banner or something for a bit here. I'll have to see if I can find it again.

ETA: Nevermind, it was literally the same guy.

Right we kinda drifted off topic. Someone said that the US military fights for freedom. I was explaining nothing in the oath ever mentions that. It's loyalty to the president and constitution. And if the arbiters of what is "Constitutional" are the same ones telling you to do unethical shit, it's not much of a defense against tyranny. I would personally hope and believe theres a lot of good people enlisted who'd refuse. But if the individual soldier is anything below 100% freedom loving, you can't expect them to do shit in the name of freedom.
I never bought the "We fight for freedom" bs. Especially after 9-11. Going in to get Bin Laden? Sure. Staying in under the guise of GWOT? The Taliban did not attack the US and neither did Saddam.

The oath of enlistment I know is this one: "I, Feline Supremacist, having been appointed an officer in the Army of the United States, as indicated above in the grade of O9000 do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I take this obligation freely, without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; and that I will well and faithfully discharge the duties of the office upon which I am about to enter; So help me God."

Enlisted personnel have "the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me" becasue they're enlisted and subordinate. Officers know better and must instruct their men/women accordingly.

Most of this is also, theoretically, true here. Though "theoretically" is the key word: having the Army bend over backwards for your religion only works if you're a Sikh (beard, turban, etc) in practice. A while ago (a decade plus) a soldier did succeed in challenging a vaccine mandate, though good luck with that now.
nah my nigga
and it can be used by others to challenge DOD
