The Official Futurama Griefing Thread - Revived for Hulu because Matt Groening needs to milk his cartoons to death

It's going to be weird seeing a character sperg about Republicans and white privilege in a distant future world in which neither of those things exist and earth is populated by thousands of non human species.

You just know they're going to add dumbass le current year politics that make zero sense in a sci fi setting.
Oh boy! I get to sit through yet another dozen episodes ripping on Richard Nixon, as if Barack Obama and Joe Biden don't exist, and weren't two of the most incompetent and corrupt presidents we've ever had!

The original run of Futarama is potentially the best adult animated series ever (yes, even including early Simpsons). They already diluted that a lot with the revival... but now it is just going to be pissing on it's grave. Even the revival had some shoehorned modern political BS (that obvious Obama episode) and that was in a time when it was 1% of how bad things are now.

King of the Hill is already going to get wrecked... must everything I appreciate be destroyed?
I think that was another huge problem with the CC revival, it was too contemporary, even by the original run's standards and didn't even do it in a clever or subtle way and having the entire plot revolve around something that was currently trending even if it would blow over after a few months. The most notable shit examples were the Susan Boil and Yo Gabba Gabba episodes.

Overall, Futurama lost a lot of personal interest for me after the movie, so this reboot could happen and I won't really give a shit outside of hoping it gets cancelled along with the other wave of reboots and remakes. But the King of the Hill revival though bugs me way more because that show ended on a very high note for me with plenty of closure even if its last seasons were weak.

All of the bad things said about DiMaggio aside, (and they're all true.) I really doubt it's that hard to get him on your project if you're willing to pay him enough. We're literally talking about a dude who said yes to 'Disenchantment', and we all know how well *that* went. (If John DiMaggio said no to more Futurama because of how shit Disenchantment was, that's actually *almost* kind of based though..)

Is there a compilation pic of the stupid shit DiMaggio has said in recent years? Feels like there ought to be. Still I doubt DiMaggio would reject an offer to work on new Futurama no matter how bad or woker it is. Its more likely that he either wanted more money or is busy working on something else. I heard there was a gayer Adventure Time revival going on at HBO Max, so maybe that's it?

I met one of the recurring character VAs and they said they could get cancelled for some of the work they've done. If they were joking, they've got a great poker face.
No shit.

Billy West has used the n-word more times than Snoop Dogg.

Phil LaMarr is famous for portraying an asian character with a stereotypical asian accent.

Considering how low the bar is for "cancellation" nowadays, the only safe ones are the non-VAs, like Katy Sagal.

One thing that worries me the most is gonna be the political commentary. The original show kept it fairly light with shit like nixon but the Comedy Central run started getting more heavy handed, for example, making an episode based on the 2012 election and Obama's birth certificate drama.
There was also that episode about Proposition Infinity. That was subtle as a bull in a China shop.

Didn't they also reference the 2000 election in one episode? Something about Al Gore being the true winner?
