The only premiers of the provinces that aren't conservative or pc-adjacent CINOs are Newfoundland and BC, and even then BC is an NDP wasteland. So 9/10 premiers are only too happy to crack down on their citizens until it is politically convenient for them to get a GOTCHA on Trudeau. WHile the newfie one sits on his island not letting anyone come or go.

Said this elsewhere, but this is the sort of thing that turns a peaceful, but annoying protest into something more. Once you start screwing with people's bank accounts and their ability to pay rent or live their lives, that's when things start popping off. It's not like these guys are tech wizards who can find alternate sources of income/accounts either. Accounts are shut, bills can't be paid, either they submit (and remain punished) or escalate.

I have no doubt that if things start popping off, the Canadian government will be swift and harsh in their response, with it spun as a "violent riot of antivax truckers stopped", probably helping the government out in swaying joe average that said powers are a good thing.

What do you think a strike is moron? It’s putting a stranglehold on a company’s ability to profit off the suffering of it’s workers. These protests are really just a national version of that and the answer is not stupid overreacting fascist takedowns but negotiations and discussion. Or even better never let it get to this point in the first place

I hopped over to r/Quebec to see if there was any salt to be harvested (seeing as how in some places, people whined about vax passes being dropped because it no longer granted them special privileges over the filthy unvaxxed) but was surprised to see that many of the reactions were oddly reasonable (sorry, the comments are only in ye olde frog)? Even redditors-or at least this batch which is surprising for that sub-know not to trust the government as far as they can throw it and would rather have the passport abolished outright.

This is one of the powers that the Emergency Act provides. Reading over the Act, these three points are especially applicable in this case:
  • (b) the evacuation of persons and the removal of personal property from any specified area and the making of arrangements for the adequate care and protection of the persons and property;
    Truckers, take your trucks and gtfo! If not, Daddy Government will remove you.
  • (c) the requisition, use or disposition of property;
    We'll tow (see point d) your trucks, seize them and your funds!
  • (d) the authorization of or direction to any person, or any person of a class of persons, to render essential services of a type that that person, or a person of that class, is competent to provide and the provision of reasonable compensation in respect of services so rendered;
    Towing companies will take our money and comply with our request to remove these vehicles lest they be jailed and fined.
Nearly three weeks into this protest and the CBC is still going on about muh "Problematic™ Flags". Of course, I cannot think of a single news media outlet that has called out the counter protesters flying communist flags (just how many people died under communism again and how many people are still suffering under those regimes?) and "gas the unvaxxed" placards. Whatever happened to bad apples spoiling the bunch and all that? 🤔

Canada is keeping the covid nonsense going out of pure spite at this point.

Both the Premier of Quebec and the federal parliamentary leader of the Bloc have come out firmly against use of the Emergencies Act. Pierre Elliot Trudeau is not much of a beloved figure in Quebec, partly because of his use of martial law in 1970. They have both issued demands that, even if the feds invoke the Emergencies Act, the feds must not utilize emergency powers within the province of Quebec, including in Gatineau, Quebec, which is across the river from Ottawa and is part of the National Capital Region. Quebeckers' aversion to the federal use of martial law could even have a significant impact on the next election, which some are whispering may be coming sooner rather than later. Also, Quebec Libtard Party members in parliament have been leading the way on a possible Liberal caucus revolt against Justin.

On Sunday, February 13, a truck carrying more than 2,000 firearms was stolen in Peterborough, Ontario.

Former RCMP officer and Freedom Convoy 2022 spokesperson Daniel Bulford: "We received information from multiple believed, reliable sources that firearms may be planted in Ottawa specifically around the Freedom Convoy to discredit the protest and to use as a pretext to forcibly remove peaceful protesters."
Video uploading is being testy. The convoy reps did pre-emptively contact the Ottawa PD that this was not them and they are peaceful.
Whether or not that was a good move, we shall see.
