I think it's kind of the runic equivalent of when people use Russian letters that happen to look like English letters, but if you sounded it out, it'd be nonsense. It's clearly a reference to their FYMM acronym, but to sound out the Anglo-Saxon Futhorc it would be pronounced OX[MM]. I've got the MM in brackets because the M-looking runes he uses don't look like any actual rune, but would be most similar to the rune that would be pronounced M (ᛗ). You could prob either look at it as a dogwhistle, or a stylistic/aesthetic choice.
