Just to be clear... the appeals court decided to unilaterally grant Russhole more time to file his brief? My first thought is that maybe the appeals court is experiencing some sort of slowdown and is managing its workload by giving time extensions to low priority cases; kinda like how hospitals have been delaying non-urgent surgery at times when the coof has taken out a lot of doctors and nurses for a couple of weeks.

I hope this is a case of giving the idiot all the rope he needs to hang himself.

If the court dismisses this and orders it to arbitration, he'll appeal it as high as he can, and that'll be the end of it. JAMS won't actually open a case unless Russ ponies up the better part of two grand and I doubt Fremantle will be generous enough to offer to pay his half of it after he's put them through all this trouble.

It means someone hired by generally a for-profit enterprise, usually at least someone legally educated and sometimes even a retired judge, hears the case presented by both sides for a fee, usually paid pro rata by each relevant party, to rules less strict than the formal rules of evidence most courts use. Then the arbitrator comes to a decision that is legally binding on the parties.

In theory they can be overturned on an exceedingly narrow number of grounds, none of which apply here.

It's supposed to comport at least to some degree with basic notions of due process. Absolute failure to do this, such as by just explicitly ruling for the usually corporate defendant based on that fact alone, or flipping a coin, or some other actual joke, might get an arbitration award vacated and dump the case back into real court, but the number of times this happens is vanishingly slim.

Needless to say, the corporations that use these arbitration agreements choose the field of possible arbitrators so they're always favored. If they weren't favored by this, they wouldn't force it on anyone they deal with. I am generally not terribly fond of arbitration agreements forced on people by monolithic corporations.

However, this particular case is actually a perfect example of where such agreements make perfect sense and should be enforced. You couldn't even have something like the business AGT is in (whether you like it or not) without preventing every single ugly ass retarded rat-faced gimp who failed from suing demanding to be on the show.

You do indeed. JAMS is a third-party who does arbitration for a fee, and to file his case with them, shitlips would have to pay a filing fee of $1,750. Fremantle would then be required to pay their own filing fee of the same amount to file their response, or else they'd be in default. They had initially offered to pay both filing fees just to entice Russ to drop the lawsuit and go to arbitration, but our clever bamboon rejected that offer - under his contract, arbitration could only award him monetary damages; they couldn't order Fremantle to let him on the show to fulfill his destiny of wooing Heidi Klum, which is what he really, really, really wants.

I think there would also be professional fees charged by the arbitrator who handles the case, although the specific amount would depend on how much the arbitrator charges per hour and how long the arbitration took, and I'm not sure if that cost would be split evenly among the parties or what.

The way he honestly acts like his opinion has any sway over how a woman he's never interacted with will act, like he somehow owns a woman he lusts over is terrifying. And I think it's honestly scary that he still thinks this way, he's just less vocal. I don't mean to rehash the "will he get violent" discussion but his lack of Facebook ranting makes him slightly better at hiding who he really is, thankfully he does the hard part for us and exposes what a rotten piece of garbage he is every time he tries to do anything.
