Also, comparing the convoy to a tornado is possibly the worst analogy she could have used.
  1. A tornado absolutely is a devastating force of nature that always leaves a trail of destruction where ever it goes. Uprooted trees, upturned vehicles, and missing homes are par of the course and the convoy up until now can't shine a candle to the smallest percentage of devastation that a tornado would leave behind in its wake.
  2. You can't stop a tornado. It will come and do it's damage regardless of how that makes you feel. And if it's coming every week then that is just life and you have to learn to deal with it.
  3. The only way to deal with a tornado, is to evacuate the area.

Was doing a little more thinking while washing the dishes.

I see some parallels between what's happened in Canada and what's been happening in the USA.

First, in both countries trust, faith, and confidence in government/law enforcement/media at all levels has been destroyed, possibly for good. From what I can tell, most Canadians retained trust in these organizations rather longer than Americans, but now the Canadians have caught up with, if not surpassed us. The scales have fallen from eyes Up North, too.

Second, just like in the USA, "they" in Canada can no longer count on any broad-based support the next time a national calamity hits, as it inevitably will. "They" have shown themselves as generally utterly disdainful of the average Canadian. But "they" forget they can indulge in their fuckery only because average Canadians work to make the country go. The average Canadian will never forget how "they" treated them, when they only sought peaceful redress for grievances, redress it was fully within "their" power to grant. This will be remembered at the next election, just like Americans will remember at the mid-terms. But the damage to the Canadian nation has been done, just as in the USA.

Believe many Canadians have, for a long time, felt themselves above the various types of turmoil in the USA. "That can't happen here. We are valued, the government's looking out for us, we support the government." Now they realize they are no better off than Americans, possibly even worse off, since they have no Bill of Rights, especially no First and Second Amendments. Now the average Canadian knows "they" don't consider themselves public servants, but the public's masters. Just like on 1/6, "they" were terrified to see the serfs and peons find their voice.

Don't lose your voice again, Canadian friends. Vote. Run for office. Push where it gives. Find ways to work around "them". As you can, live without reference to "them". "Their" country isn't your country, never really was in the first place.

Gotta hold you up there for a sec. We have the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. That covers the first amendment. Of course, no second amendment. Not sure if you meant something else by this, but it's only technically correct in that we do not have a document called the Bill of Rights.
