It's been floating around under the surface. Not sure what really started it, but it's been bubbling for the last decade. Really started picking up States in the last 2 years. For those who dont know what that is, the States get to appoint commisioners with the nearly unlimited power to rewrite the US constitution. The only thing they cannot do is create a nobility, reinstate slavery or mess with State Representation in the Senate. Everything else is fair game. Everything. They could put term limits on congress, dissolve every executive agency, dissolve the house of representatives entirely and
make congress unicameral with just the Senate, fire the sitting president ex post facto, dissolve the office of the presidency entirely and replace it with a committee. anything their little hearts desire. And if 3/4ths of the State legislatures approve, then poof. New government. Congress and the President get no say.

Can they get rid of the NSA? Even the NSA says to ignore the President when he tells them to stop spying.

Diane Deans legitimately scares me because she is good reminder that people like her are the ones who are making the decisions for us.
There are people out there in power just like her: insane, delusional, vile, and if the right opportunity presents itself extremely dangerous.

Also, comparing the convoy to a tornado is possibly the worst analogy she could have used.

1. A tornado absolutely is a devastating force of nature that always leaves a trail of destruction where ever it goes. Uprooted trees, upturned vehicles, and missing homes are par of the course and the convoy up until now can't shine a candle to the smallest percentage of devastation that a tornado would leave behind in its wake.
2. You can't stop a tornado. It will come and do it's damage regardless of how that makes you feel. And if it's coming every week then that is just life and you have to learn to deal with it.
3. The only way to deal with a tornado, is to evacuate the area.

In 2020, when Taiwan got their first wave of Covid-19, they also had a simultaneous outbreak of swine flu. They made it through by (1) being an island nation, and (2) immediately cracking down on people's movement. They closed off the borders and forced contact tracing and personal tracking apps on their citizens. I'm not a fan of the tactics, obviously, but at least it was a competent response tailored to their specific situation.

Right around the time the entire media apparatus was screeching that Trump told people to drink bleach, a bunch of Asian countries had finally wrestled Covid into a manageable state, some without the authoritarian measures. They had their own variants and everything over there, which never spread around enough for people to know the names. (There's a lot of Greek letters in between Alpha, Delta, and Omicron.) And they continue to deal with seasonal versions of the other flus.

Western approaches to epidemics aren't just stupid, they haven't evolved. There was no learning accomplished at the institutional level. Our readiness level has actually devolved, degraded by the politicization of it all.

This is the most thick-headed, heavy handed decision they could've made. They would've been better off going in guns blazing and indiscriminately firing tear gas into crowds, but instead they've laser focused the controversy on abducting children from the protest.

Communism didn't work in the past, we have the Great Leap Forward, the Holodomor, and other examples. As well as statistically, states under Communism simply didn't work. They usually collapsed, resulted in famines, civil wars, massive disparity or in China's case, had to adopt other political and economic ideas to simply keep functioning.

Communists had a big issue, they couldn't argue on the merits of Communism because of it's litany of failures. There were objective facts to contend with.

But what if... we went for a different tactic? What if we made an emotional argument for Communism instead of a logical argument? What if we went with racism instead of class?
After all, technically, Europeans have oppressed and colonized ethnic groups and cultures all over the world. Can you imagine? The mean Europeans just taking land because they are more advanced. THEY DESTROYED THEIR CULTURE. Ignore the details. Ignore the context. Ignore the mindset. Even ignore what the natives themselves did.

Basically the Europeans of today would take land and enslave people just as they did in 1500. Why do you support anything that horrible culture is based on? And it's all based on White Government. It needs to go.

Haven't you noticed how many Women and Soyboys seem to be drawn to the argument? It's emotional.

It's also strategically beneficial for them to spend 100% of their time attacking the other side instead of advocating for their snake oil cure. Basically "they're evil, put us in charge", and brief ad homs for anyone questioning them before returning to message.

I've seen a similar strategy used in debates by the weaker side. "Their side has this, that, and this other fatal problem". Spends very little time presenting much for the other side to attack. I don't agree completely. This is not what I wished for, I feel people are entitled to make their own decisions for their lives.

Progress is, to me, just that. Progress. Less government oversight into our personal lives, more services and necessities paid for through our taxes.

If this is the inevitable result of liberal politics, count me out. Liberalism is not progressive. Progression is the betterment of us all, at our cost, to provide a better future for those less fortunate.

Being progressive should have nothing to do with party lines, but I'm aware of how ignorant that ideal is.

Honestly, I question the fundamental assertion that progress is inherently good.

Like, sure, by every objective measurable metric, humanity as a species is much more successful today than we were a hundred thousand years ago. Everything is objectively better. But are we any happier for it?

I’m not gonna go anprim and pretend as if humanity could somehow be arbitrarily kept in a pre-industrial state (because doing so would require an uber-authoritarian government keeping tabs on everyone making sure they don’t discover any forbidden knowledge), but I do think another ice age would do wonders for mankind’s collective psyche. Homo Sapiens evolved to survive those harsh environments, but without that external limiter on our power level we don’t know what to do with our abilities.

I actually don't buy that the current way society is run is the only way it can be run. I mean perhaps our current society, with its current social norms (which themselves are informed by our debased priest/media/culture policing class) can only have our current rulers, but if society is willing to change, if pattern recognition is allowed to again act as a social immune system against cultural parasites, then I believe the nature of our rulers can change too. It's tempting to think things are the way they are because it's the only way it could be, but a lot of conscious effort goes in to maintaining the current shape of things. Did you see how Elon Musk was bullied just earlier today in to taking down a tweet by the CEO of the ADL? Imagine if that sort of person had no power here. I think things could be different. Never perfect, but I would gladly live with materially less to have richer bonds between the good people of whichever body we form, including between rulers and ruled.
