This reminds me of Ghost of Tsushima. When they revealed it there was a white dude playing an obscure Japanese flute instrument and western Twitter had a field day with it despite the guy training on the instrument in Japan and being one of the very few people on the planet who can even play it. Then when the game came out western game journos had a fit about the game being developed by a Western studio while in Japan it was nearly universally loved as a celebration of Japanese culture.

The review bombing of the game is still going on, and the game dropped to Mixed rating in the Recent Reviews. I do wonder if people are rating the game negatively, because of legitimate criticism of the game (and TS4 has a lot of it), and are using the Lunar New Year controversy as convenient timing to do so. I do wonder if the game will reach Overwhelmingly Negative, like what happened with Battlefield 2042's Steam ratings after DICE's earlier announcements this week.

The game itself is also Free-to-Play on Steam this weekend, for reasons I guess.

I think the ones complaining are chinese americans rather than chinese living in china. Alot of chinese in china or other asians in their native land love it when other countries represents their culture and also with so many tyranny/corruption and extreme workaholic standards going in in their country this is the last thing they are worried about. The owner of the SimsCommunity website put out a scathing rant against Russia's currently anti-LGBT status, resulting in EA not releasing the My Wedding Stories Game Pack not being released in Russia. However, the rant doesn't have any mentions about China, Muslim, Pacific Island, or African countries that are anti-LGBT, or even Uzbekistan, which banned The Sims games outright. It's as if Russia is the only country that you can throw outright hate at.

The ending of the rant sounds very similar to people having absolutes about a person's beliefs:

ts4 rebels is great but disorganized, and hasnt updated their dead links the problem is more people would reupload paid cc if the cc creators werent such faggots; patreon has a policy for no prepaid cards, so I have to literally go though extra hoops to get a prepaid card to work like a regular debit card. wirh how dox happy most paid cc creators are its important to have a prepaid card that says john smith at 123 fuck you street. because if you get caught they'll share that info with other creators therefore banning you from others to pirate cc. I've literally had to at one point fucking change cards multiple times because I almost go close to being caught.

I want the wedding stories pack for the wedding content, the tea content, and the few chinese inspired outfits because the only close cc outfits for my qing dynasty hood is locked behind the great fire wall, and no one on sims 4 rebels wants to go through the trouble of paying snyglp for them. theres a shit ton of content on snyglp alone that no one but mainlander chinese can access because it requires a weibo account verification and winnie xi pooh ccp id verification. the fact is I am ass mad because I waited for this pack so I rip the out fit meshes and recolor them willy nilly, but I was hoping to do that on friday when I had time to do it, now I have to wait until the 23rd because ea wants to cover up their fuck up with woke virtue signaling.

the problem that I have with the whole snafu is that people are using the woke excuse as to not be upset, over eas own fuck up. but this is going on over how many years of fuck ups? there hasn't been a game update or pack release that hasn't broke the game in some shape or form what so ever, I used to be patient because it was a new game, but the problem is between the bugs, the pay wall cc, and ea pandering to muh wokeness, and the equally toxic woke fan base that makes you feel a like shit for demanding what we paid for. like one of the arguments of the whole paid cc creators is well if you have money to buy the sims you have money to pay me for my cc, but what many to people to fail to realize, is not every body buys packs on full price, most of us wait for a sale, or buy the packs we want together in the origin build your bundle deal, its alot easier to justify spending 50 dollars, when you can get an expansion a stuff pack and game pack together for one price of 50 dollars than it is to buy it separately. if I were to pay every content creator I have pirated from every month for a year straight I'd be out 2k yearly at a bare mininmun, poor people can afford to buy the sims 4 if they plan their spending accordingly, and wait for the right time to buy, smart rich people don't buy stuff at full price all the time, and there's people who outright pirate their shit regardless of their financial circumstances, the mere fact of having the copy of the sims 4 and all their expansion packs and add ons isn't an indicator of wealth, so it doesn't make sense.
