Transformers general thread - Toy Robot men based on giant robots based on previously mentioned toys about said robots

Found a review in my youtube reccomended for the new armada megatron, didn't know he had a more accurate optional head!
Aside from the orange replacing the orange-red it's fucking magnificent. Hoping they also put out a version of the "megatron general/Galvatron" colorscheme, that's the one I had as a kid. (and still have somewhere but I'd need to seek it out)
Holy shit it has actual minicon compatibility and functioning missiles too, that's great. This shit has more thought put into it than a majority of third party and official masterpiece stuff, it's wild.

Well the FFF was pretty bad aside from this...

Bumblebee Arcee looked pretty good. I can se using that mold for a few characters. Junkheap is a heavy remold which makes it easier to swap parts to make other Junkions if they decide to release more. The rest we already saw or new about and had a good idea how they would look.
Well they all look good. Problem is we already saw all but 2 of them and some are even in stores right now. I’m really hoping this was just them getting a bunch of extra shit out of the way and there will be more reveals later this month.

Pulsecon is March or April. We should have a lot more information than. Right now they're showing off new GI Joe stuff and some stuff they're doing/ done for Transformers. They also have the Rancor to try and get out.

My issues with it was more about how weird the thighs are. Not having a flip down part for the stomach is fine. I wish shields had better hand holds but there are so many out there you can 3d print its a nonpoint. It looks even better in person than on camera.

So, yesterday my "UniCroN coMPanIon PACK" (lmao fuck that shit) galvatron came in the mail despite UPS claiming it's still in the georgia origin point a week or so after it shipped. unlike what some reviewers got the tiny grey figures weren't in their own box and were just haphazardly thrown inside the wrapping the accessories were jammed into. Might've lost one or 2 of them due to this but I have no clue. What I DO KNOW however is thankfully there weren't insane issues with the panel lines being smudged, misplaced, or missing that I've seen some horror stories about. Too lazy to try and work out a proper space to take photos of it right now but I'm fucking glad it didn't end up as a lost or stolen package with the prices scalpers are charging for this fucking selects figure.

Quick Transformers derail:

I can't justify spending as much as this costs on one piece so I have not preordered one, but holy mother of god what a magnum opus for Bandai. Okay thats the end of the derail

I rather like stuff like this, but it's never worth the price and they're not as premium as people believe. Build quality can be hit or miss.

Is the Studio Series bumblebee Soundwave a joke or something? Even with its complete nothing of a transformation they somehow needed to give it a faux chest?

That's only because of how the chest is supposed to be a curved windshield and you can't exactly flatten that out in transformation at that price point.

My point is the alt mode is already pointless garbage, would it REALLY have been made significantly worse if the windshield didn't have some extra gold lining?

I would have been fine to use the curved windshield as the chest as it would be different and would give Soundwave some extra detail in bot form. Though I'd much rather see the chest used the same way it was used in Cyberverse. That way Ravage could be used as an engine block.

I guess I'm just complaining about the philosophy of "transforming toys" here, that applies for ALL transformers with garbage alt modes, official or third-party.

Like, the whole gimmick of a transformer is that it can transform between a robot and a vehicle/animal/whatever, right? And in order to do so, compromises must be made in the robot mode in order to allow for the transformation gimmick, and extra engineering and R&D effort must be put into designing a transforming figure vs. a non-transforming one, which translates to increased cost. When you have a garbage alt-mode, what you are doing is effectively making a non-transforming figure that has all of the compromises of a transformer, and the additional cost associated with engineering a transformer, with none of the benefits. At that point, you might as well just make a more posable, better-painted non-transforming toy at the same price point, because if the transformation is just going to be a tacked-on afterthought, I'd rather not have it at all, because the alternative would be (1) a lower-cost figure with roughly the same finish and better posability, or (2) a figure at the same price point with better posability and a much more premium paint job.

Oh, it's still garbage. It's sort of Soundwaves thing, he's never had a middle ground. You either get something like a nice truck or walkman/boombox mode, or you get a shape that's supposed to be a spaceship. I'd rather if it's going to be trash, make up for it with doing minor tweaks to not need to do things like fake chest pieces. You also forget that toy engineering costs money, as does any paint apps you want to add. Soundwave never transformed in the movie so the engineers had to come up with something on their own which takes extra time and therefore money. Hasbro will never do "premium" painted figures at retail prices and non transformable figures at retail are just going to be like the RED series.

Yeah, "modernizing" Soundwave's alt-mode will always be problematic because he's such a perfect product of his time. Honestly I think the best route to go for a "modern" Soundwave alt-mode is some sort of stylized news van or maybe a communications satellite (except not the shitty one from the Bay movies).

Can't because you then fuck up his cassettes and turn them into something stupid.

Like what's their uniform alt mode shape going to be?
