Am I actually concerned about the virus? Of course not. But it spooks me somewhat, because media coverage reminds me of the initial whispers about the Delta; it worries me about how the gov't may respond. I was listening to the Senate debate about the Emergencies Act earlier today, and a disheveled, obese, problem-glasses, ex-journalist senator brought up Omicron BA.2 as a looming threat. Insinuating to some extent that the government may start locking us down again over Omicron BA.2; that this new subvariant means that The Pandemic™ is STILL not wrapping up (because the common cold has been endemic for millennia, if not orders of magnitude longer than that, and is not a pandemic). I can only hope that the increasing degree of popular outrage may deter them from pulling out a new chapter of this scam.

Dealing with COVID is an all or nothing process. Look at what China had to do to "get rid of" the virus, and they still had another provincial lockdown in 2022. They don't stop at locking down and testing, either. They go through public areas and fog the shit out of it with disinfectant. While I'll never believe a single statistic that comes out of China, I do believe that their approach is the only 'effective' one insofar as eradicating the virus as it crops up.

There are two approaches; go full China and erase civil liberties in the name of saving the olds from common cold 2, or do what every other normal first world society is doing and throw in the towel.

The second letter, starting with "It is with overwhelming resolve..." seems a lot more grounded than the other stuff, at least relatively speaking. Yet once he starts getting into specifics of legalistic stuff like treaties, such as the Royal Proclamation of 1763, it gets kinda wacky again.

It's actually got do with testing. Basically the genetic marker that testers use to identify Omicron in PCR tests is different in the "stealth" subvariant, so they can't identify it properly as Omicron, hence "stealth."

Why is the new COVID variant called stealth omicron?

Yeah that's what I thought as well, crazy ramblings aside I get the impression that he puts more meaning into his status than it actually has, thinking that it means anything to the govt/monarchy.
