No. Russia will stop at the Dneiper and destroy Ukraine's ability to fight back. Occupation would be absolute suicide which is why Putin was very clear they wouldn't do that. that's what I mean, they won't hang around to subjugate the population. once the political/economical goal has been achieved they'll stop and then pull back or package it in a way the population can deal with it. highly doubt it will be dragged out into a long and messy campaign.

Putin said a lot of stuff. But he also made it very clear that the intent is to demilitarize Ukraine and that isn't really possible without taking the whole country. You are also underestimating Russian ability to run COIN operations, they are actually way more skilled at it than the US. America's puppet state collapsed before the last of the US personnel even made it out of that shithole. Or hell, look at what went down in Kazakhstan recently. That looks like an Su-25 Frogfoot ground attack jet. Both Russia and Ukraine have them, but Russia obviously has more. Ukraine has all its Su-25's in Mykolaiv.

You are trying to say it's difficult to defeat children and grandmas. When have kids and old ladies ever defeated a professional army?

Ukraine is not gonna defeat them and win but I would also not want to be moving around unsecured zones. Guerilla warfare is one of those tough to deal with situations that must feel horrifying to experience. Ukraine is home to 40 million people and is pretty large in size it will take a while for the Russians to fully occupy the region with 1,000,000 soldiers (3/4 are deployed in Ukraine).

Interesting. The Tu-134 has actually been retired from civil usage. It's not Putin's usual ride, but the model has been used for Presidental transport from time to time. Good money says that's either Putin himself or a high command member relocating to a command post closer to the front.
