You're right. I personally believe that American militarization and training is also belligerent. Russia has legitimate security concerns over the size and status of the US military. Therefore the US military should disband.
Strawman.

US had 2 options.
1. Continue status quo of Ukraine being a NEUTRAL buffer state.
2. Push for Ukraine to join NATO.

They decided to do the latter. They lost and now US geopolitical positioning is in a worse situation. They shouldn't have played hardball unless they were willing to commit militarily and no sanctions are not sufficient punishments for a flat out invasion.

Glorious Nipon steel crafted into a superior weapon can cut clean through steel because it is folded over a thousand times, and is vastly superior to any other weapon on earth.
The Ukraine should defend itself using nothing but the purest weapons from Grorious Nippon's best period of awesome under the Tokugawa shogunate.

Holy shit, russia has gone too far
Corn pop needs to nuke those soviet niggers back to the dark ages NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW!
This is a declaration of war

I guess Ukraine doesn't get a choice in this at all?

Fucking retard. Republicans should unironically kill themselves en masse.

I will disagree here. The intent was never to actually start a war, nor was this long in the planning by some deep state interest.

The long-term interest was maintaining Ukraine as a U.S.-friendly den of corruption and vice where all the elites could clean their dirty laundry and do shady as fuck dealings.

The short-term goal was by courting disaster then throwing down sanctions, the Admin thought they could be seen as averting a great war and thus raise their absolutely plummeting polling numbers,

Neither objective is going well right now.
Someone on here has said this has given a boost to Joe's approval rating? Any truth to that currently and how do you see it playing out long term?

How the fuck can that demented old pedophile do NOTHING while our embassies are under attack? This shit needs to be fixed NOW.

They're handing out free gear, get it while it's hot!

I'd be tempted if I got to get and keep a PK. And lose it in a tragic boating accident on the way home.
Then again if I really wanted to get a russki machine gun I could probably just wander around in the russian woods or buy it from a conscript for a carton of cigarettes and a porn magazine.

Russia was fine allowing Ukraine to exist as an independent nation as long as it remained neutral and demilitarized i.e. the status quo from the end of the cold war through the Trump years.
Asking for weapons and training from NATO is a sign of aggression and essentially the beginning steps of NATO integration. It was a very dumb decision.

This was happening under Obama. The NATO talks were picked up after the pro-Western government got installed with heavy EU/US backing. The Maidan overthrow leaders immediately went to the US for support after kicking out the Ukrainian president.

Crimea didn't get annexed out of the clear blue back in 2014, and it's not a coincidence that this is happening when the same useless flacks are back in power in the US.

God...

That is fucking desperate. These are civilians and not uniformed soldiers. They do not get POW if captured and then being armed allows for the wholesale slaughter if one person is carrying a Javelin. Are they even the trained on it's use? This is going to result in a massacre.

This has to be a joke because if true the implications are horrifying.
Zelensky needs those massacres like BLM needs Dylann Roofs.

That is.... monumentally stupid to do in a clearly losing war. it opens up any civilian casualties to be explained away as "We thought they were armed" and have that be a legitimate excuse.
The correct move is to have a robust framework of rights and culture surrounding firearms ownership and use for hunting and sport, so in the event of invasion every citizen is already armed and skilled with effective weapons. Oh, and a strong ethno-nationalist culture that keeps the populace united and motivated to repel invasion through sustained violence. Probably useful to have a strong, competent leader willing to shoulder the burdens of command as well.

Sucks that the Ukraine doesn't have that.
