That is my main fear. As has been pointed out many times in this thread:
WE DO NOT HAVE ANY FORMAL DEFENSE TREATY WITH UKRAINE. UKRAINE WAS NEVER FORMALLY APART OF NATO. WE HAVE NO FORMAL OBLIGATIONS TO UKRAINE. WE DO HAVE LONGSTANDING OFFICIAL OBLIGATIONS TO TAIWAN. WAR OVER TAIWAN WOULD ACTUALLY BE IN THE US INTERESTS BOTH IN TERMS OF ECONOMICS, TERRITORIALITY, AND MILITARILY. OUR INTEREST IN UKRAINE EXIST SOLELY AS A BUFFER TO RUSSIA (AND TO LAUNDER MONEY, AND GET UNDERAGE PROSTITUTES FOR ELITE PEDOPHILE ISLANDS).
Furthermore, while China isn't the dinky little toy factory it was 20 years ago, their military is still far behind what it would take to face of not only the USA, but Japan, India, and Taiwan itself. And remember, Taiwan is an Island. The Chinese navy despite its massive expansion is simply not up to a game of Battleship. Plus China has never excelled militarily except against itself.
Let's not forget Xi is getting very open resistance from high ranking CCP members lately, with open denouncements of his rule in Chinese state media. He may just end up with a literal knife in the back if his rivals think he his 100% about to go in.
