Or even Slavic. for the matter. Real last name was Dzhugashvili in case anyone isn't aware.Stalin wasn't Russian.
Well, that's probably true, but you also said they were no better than Russia. I know it's an edgy take around here to say Putin is based etc, but if we're having an adult conversation here I hope you realize how patently absurd that is.And? They don't practice insurance theory and prosecute the previous government, repress their opposition and have a limited at best choice in terms of policy out there. Even US think tanks, who've every reason to talk up their proxy, still rank them as a mixed system at best, lower than Hungary or Polan, who they're against.
Strength, along with history and basic sense. Ukraine consists primarily of Russian speakers, has been in the Russian sphere of influence at all times and was part of Russia exponentially longer than it was its own thing. Even its name basically means 'border'land, i.e the border of Russia. The idea that the US has more claim to have it as a satellite than Russia or that there's some Russian obligation to tolerate a hostile proxy consisting of what are effectively Russians on its border is ridiculous. What right does Russia have to dictate the Ukraine's foreign policy
The exact same right the US has to dictate Mexico's
None, except strength
They functionally aren't. If you jail your opposition and jingoistically posture it doesn't matter if one dude is in charge or not especially not when they wage the same policy on behalf of a foreign power. Arguing on the basis of superior Ukraine governance when it's a slush fund run by oligarchs, including Saakashvili for a bit, the Georgian retard who pulled the same trick with his meme country in 2008 is a weak position. No one except LARPers wants wars that kill tons of people, but as far as wars go, this one is understandable and will be proportionate barring suicidal choices by the Ukrainians like their Volkssturm reenactment.Well, that's probably true, but you also said they were no better than Russia. I know it's an edgy take around here to say Putin is based etc, but if we're having an adult conversation here I hope you realize how patently absurd that is.
Isn't this tantamount to saying that any country should have a right to launch a war of conquest anytime they feel like it? If the attacked country loses, it means their claim to independence wasn't valid anyway.A country's claim to being "its own country" is only valid as long as they can keep it.
Indeed. He was a Georgian, therefore the Ukrainians shouldn't think twice about the Holodomor with regards to Russia.Stalin wasn't Russian.

Did Americans act this retarded during the Chechen war?Too many people on social media are offering their opinions and doomposting about the war in Ukraine. It's really clear most people have no idea about geopolitics nor actually care. They all want to score points and seek comfort in their echo chambers.
Especially Americans. Will we be dragged into war in Europe? Maybe. Crying about it isn't going to help. I've had family members texting me asking what's going on, because hysteria has overtaken rational thought, and they can't believe what they are hearing/seeing. Good God, I'm no military expert, but even a cursory understanding of recent history makes a few things clear.
1) Ukraine will fall. I hope they give Russia hell, but they cannot best their military without foreign intervention.
2) Russia will hurt from sanctions, but it won't dissuade Putin from claiming his prize and potentially keep moving. His own people may protest in the streets, but it will most likely be for naught.
3) Life will go on. Even if Putin has lost the plot, he wouldn't dare resort to nuclear war. I cannot imagine his generals would allow him to destroy all of humanity. Proxy wars will abound as they did during the Cold War, but by and large, Americans are going to be fine.
It's pretty ridiculous to see Americans bitching and moaning about this, as if our country is being invaded. I appreciate the level-headedness of some posts here, if only because they prove not everyone is a complete fucking idiot.
Slithering away, now. If I'm wrong about any of this, idgaf.
Not good enough. The other flankers are pretty damn good too.
Implying NATO was ever going to step up. They wouldn't give Ukraine any security guarantees in 1991 when Russia was practically done for and couldn't even afford the gas for the tanks let alone a full invasion. It's the first couple of days. The real shitstorm's coming. No one else has moved in so he's working against the clock AND seeing that that NATO was not prepared to fight back.
We could play the same card the russians have been using since 2014 and send a bunch of troops as "volunteers" with no flag. Its not that big of a risk. Its proxy war 101 for a non-involved major power to send specialists who advise and help train troops of a minor power when they are fighting someone they hate. I doubt the US is piloting the drones directly, but it wouldn't surprise me if the Ukrainian operators are being instructed by an American specialist.
Post some.Mine sends me well-meaning but trite Faceboomer memes. In return, I send him the spiciest ones I find that won't get me fired.

The кацап fears the 武士
I would worry more about all the javelins and MANPADs, those can destroy a bus or train or take down an airliner. You also have to wonder how many of these random AKs are going to be left over at the end of this situation and how many of them are going to end up smuggled into western europe. Could end up with a repeat of all the happenings we had a few years ago over here.

Got some examples of this?Just a reminder people. While social media is usually "WE STAND IN SOLIDARITY" to stuff like BLM, they are dead silent about Russia. Reddit, Facebook, and other platforms are banning people that discuss resisting Putin and the Russian army under the guise of "promoting violence" and possibly are leaking user details to the Russian government. If you can, let your friends know this is happening because I'm sick of these social media companies doing this shit silently and nobody reporting on it.
Don't believe me? Go on reddit and talk about shooting Russian soldiers or Putin, say you are Ukrainian, you will get banned by reddit.
Russian is umbrella term like American. Russians dont exist it is tatars and hohols and jewsStalin wasn't Russian.

Yes. Always yes. It doesn't need a conditional.Did Americans act retarded
Isn't this tantamount to saying that any country should have a right to launch a war of conquest anytime they feel like it?
No, because Chechens are ragheads, and nobody except bleeding-hearts and other ragheads care about ragheads.Did Americans act this retarded during the Chechen war?
He assassinates journalists, fixes elections, jails opposition and protestors, and you can't figure out what kind of guy Putin is?Not knowing Putin personally and not possessing the same ability to read minds that you seem to imagine you do, I couldn't say who/what Putin is on the inside, or what he thinks. Any personal sins you attribute to him don't somehow magically make the West/NATO/Davos' adventurism in and exploitation of Ukraine okay, nor does it address the fact that Russia has had a legitimate security concern in this matter that goes back at least two decades.
No? Nothing gives any country a "right to launch a war of conquest" but that doesn't change the fact that a free country can only keep their claim to freedom by force. There's no such thing in the world as a "valid claim to independence" either, just the winners and the losers.Isn't this tantamount to saying that any country should have a right to launch a war of conquest anytime they feel like it? If the attacked country loses, it means their claim to independence wasn't valid anyway.
