Russia could always genuinely try to be a part of Europe instead of setting itself apart

Russia did try that at times under the Tsars and it worked out pretty well for them, better than other Russian attempts at making a place in the sun for itself like the Soviet Union or as the Great Protector of All Slav Squatters Everywhere in the 19th century up through WW1

Why in God's name would you want to try to be apart of Europe today?

Right there have been Russian movements toward Kiev, last night they hit them with ballistic missiles and reportedly the power is off in Kiev but the Ukrainians are still fighting them for every inch of ground.

The US State Department believes Russia's momentum is slowing down as the Ukrainian resistance becomes stronger. At least one bridge leading into Kiev has been destroyed by the Ukrainians to stop any Russian advancement.

Also last night a Russian plane was shot down over Kiev and partially crashed into an apartment building.

Zelenskyy has vowed to say in Kiev or at least in Ukraine without fleeing to a neighboring country.

The plane was ukrainian lol.

Any confirmation on which side hit the vessels? Fog of war could have made it be Putin, but also could be a legit false flag by the Ukrainians to pull in outside help.

There is no confirmation yet from either side. The Russians are believed to be the culprit, but so far its just that word, "believed. All I can say with certainty is that there is proof of the damage one vessel took while another one had footage of being on fire. All of the ships involved were bulk carriers. One was Moldovan, one was Japanese and one was Turkish

Some international vessels got hit and NATO had a meeting about what their response would be. The President of Ukraine is remaining in Kiev as far as I am aware. The war is still going on as it was yesterday unsurprisingly and the propaganda machine of both sides is in full motion.

Edit: Also a Russian foreign ministry spokesperson warned Sweden and Finland bad things would happen if they tried to join NATO. Probably a bluff but at this point who knows.

My mom literally just said to me "This isn't a war. A war is when soldiers fight other soldiers, not bomb civilians. We should go in and shoot their planes down."

I asked her if she was willing to risk nuclear war over it and she said yes. I fully believe that she thinks that she won't get bombed or effected at all as a result Putin pressing the big red button on us, despite the fact that we live in a heavily populated metropolitan area with a military base. I doubt she even knows what a "nuclear bomb" even is, despite living through the events of the Cuban missile crises.

Not gonna lie I have extreme morbid curiosity to see what happens when Russia suddenly has to play Germany in a recreation of the Battle of Stalingrad.

The other wild card is Japan. Anything the PRC does to Taiwan will freak Japan the fuck out. They are already really pissed at Russia for invading a country on the other side of the world. Japan has been militarizing for the last decade or so. They almost certainly possess all the knowledge and resources necessary to make a nuclear weapon. The only thing they're waiting for is for it to become politically viable in a country whose populace currently despises nuclear weapons.

The second China starts wilin, expect Japan to perform their first nuclear test.

Not sure that the soldiers on the island were killed, not sure that the ships were attacked by Russia

I posted back a bit that one of the livestreams a soldier from the island did was of a russian navel ship that fired upon them. Zelensky himself said all 13 died and are to be given the Hero of Ukraine award. I am willing to believe the russians were callous enough to shell a lone garrison to oblivion because the commander on the island told the ship to go fuck themselves.
The Russians say they captured 83 people on the island who surrendered. Why would Ukraine station an 80 man garrison on such a remote island in the black sea without support? Not believing them.
The Japanese cargo ships, well, who else has a substantial military presence in the region right now that's all too trigger happy to use expansive amounts of ordinance to hit anything that moves. The Americans?
Only circumstantial I know with the propaganda flying around. But men did die at Snake Island and a Japanese boat was hit, both can be blamed on the Russians, so that's what I'm doing.

This is said to be a gathering of Russian anti-war protesters in Saint Petersburg last night. There is definitely opposition to the war domestically in Russia and personally I think if the war doesn't end soon the protests could possibly get worse even if there are crackdowns.
