Not true. This is a myth. An embassy is not sovereign, it has jurisdictional immunity contingent on its use being for legitimate diplomatic purposes. The site of the embassy remains the sovereign territory of the host nation.The difference is that an embassy is the sovereign soil of the nation housed there. France is obligated to treat an attack on their embassy like an attack on Paris, because if they don't, then that's open season for every other nation on earth to waltz into their local one and seize everything inside.
