someone's intern is getting sacrificed to moloch.

I looked but I couldn't find any actual confirmation besides the memoirs a couple of people put out.

But there was a real reason we hit it so hard, so fast, and 82nd was given the go-ahead when the Division CO called up 1st Cav and 101st and said "Feed me men till I say stop."

Notice something about the casualty list? Something kind of... hmmmm?

There were some sketch ass rumors about what was really caught on the ground, and some dudes caught some BSV's and IIRC there were two Silver Stars and a lot of "National Security" slapped on the After Action Reports.
Cuba and Russia were trying to set up Grenada as a SURPRISE, WE COMMIE NOW thing and Reagan saw the opportunity to burnish his anticommie credentials and erase a little bit of the shame from 'Nam. If we hadn't invaded they would have sooner rather than later had red stars popping up out of nowhere like this but with palm trees instead of onion domes

New video from Zelensky, President of Ukraine:

Translation: There's a lot of fake info telling that I ordered the Ukrainian army to surrender. So, listen here: I'm here. We are not putting our weapons down, we are going to protect our country. Our weapons are our truth, it's our country, our children and we will protect them. Slava Ukraini.

Is that a rumor going around in Ukrainian social media? I haven't heard that particular bit of fake news yet.

I haven't heard a better explanation as to why all of this is happening. Hell, if I told you last month that Putin would invade, you'd write that off as Q shit too.
So why did they annex Crimea and push into the dong-bass last decade? Was that about biolabs too? What has Putin said? He appears to be citing concerns over nato expansion and ethnic oppression as his reasoning for invading, He has been harping on it for a decade now. Is that all just a cover? Why not just accuse the West of manufacturing bio weapons in Ukraine? This makes no sense. You've heard better explanations. You're ignoring them.

You know son, if you're gonna post an infographic from freaking Wikipedia, at least have the decency to show me what populations this is referring to.

And maybe try something more recent than statistics from more than 20 years ago.
You crybaby
And it's a fucking guess.
If the invasion settles tomorrow and you'd give the average Uke the choice between a failed wannabe EU state and Russia
You can bet that they'll turn into faithful slavs real quick

Holy shit, people really do think they're invincible nowadays, don't they?

They think that a fucking cellphone will protect them or nobody will do anything to them because "they're on the right side of history" or what the fuck ever, don't they?

People have no goddamn common sense, and this fucking war is just showing me that I'll never feel bad for civilian casualties unless you can show me they were in their house and taken by surprise or in the basement.

Because holy shit, do some of these dipshits deserve the label "collateral damage" because of how retarded they are.

What's interesting for me is there is not attempt to give an "here's how we win" argument, that's gotta be playing on some minds

Whatever Putin's final goal is with this, it's worth cratering their relationship with the West entirely and he is proceeding despite the already catastrophic damage to Russia's economy alone. China can most likely balance any losses sustained in that area and are happy to form a healthy, long term relationship to help Russia force NATOs hand. The means justify the ends for Putin and he clearly doesn't give a shit. The manpower and weaponry used in Ukraine appears to be only a fraction of what they have prepared. Whatever his end goal is, he doesn't seem concerned by whatever resistance is being levelled against him with sanctions or military support from nearby Western allies.

I think his decision for a slow and deliberate takeover is to both accelerate Western interference to prove his case that they're agitating dickheads and make territory claim sustainable long term. This is calculated and he's not going in with guns blazing like the US enjoys doing to establish dominance. Resources are being managed carefully to make this permanent. Putting all of his eggs in one basket by descending upon Ukraine like hell's fury is illogical. I imagine that keeping infrastructure intact as much as possible is also favourable, so when the government is replaced with one of his liking they don't have to expend more resources repairing unneeded damage they created to "do it faster". In addition it means Russia minimialises their own casualties if the majority isn't all clustered in territory framed with NATO allies who could effectively ambush and squash from 3/4 sides with a few big booms. Further... Slowly increasing pressure to force capitulation and surrender is a better outcome financially at the very least.
I think an interesting aspect to this question of motive is the notion that Putin may just doing this for the hell of it. Think of the kind of sociopath megalomaniac to sign up to be KGB, turned local politician, turned President-for-Life. Think of the epic power fantasies. I am reminded of Dostoyevsky's Crime & Punishment, where the protagonist's motive for his titular 'Crime' is not money or whatever, but to prove to himself that he is a Great Man of History, like Napoleon.

Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin will turn 70 years old, later this year. He may be president for life, but life has its own term limits. "Prosecute a major war" may be something he wishes to scratch off his bucket list. Otherwise, he may have certain legacy-related (ego) or patriotic ideas of what he would like to accomplish in terms of conquests for Russia. Regardless of underlying objectives, the clock is ticking for how long he has left before he is too old to reign, which may provide incentive for him to act now.
