Please explain why civilians having military rifles is bad. Especially in a "we are losing a war and are about to be occupied by a hostile foreign power" context.

Have people just been asleep for the last 20-odd years? Winning a conventional war as a large power over a weaker country is easily enough accomplished. Securing it afterward in an occupation is the motherfucker.
In the US it isn't bad because people actually learn to use those guns. Ukraine, far as I am aware, either had a small armed population or banned guns entirely.

You don't arm civilians with rifles without training them the basics. Already there are posts of them trying to sell the rifles online for money.

A Russian soldier and Ukrainian national guardsmen keeping a joint eye on the Chernobyl nuclear reactor after the forces agreed to stop clashes inside the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. Not sure how accurate this is though as this is apparently the only source of the photo and people say this is from a Russian news station.

BecAuse they can’t mobilize , communicate or be commanded in any effective force and end up just having friendly fire incidents

Mariupol may get taken
A huge portion of the ukraine army is about to be encircled near mariopol today as a breakthrough meets forces from crimea

This action will be the end of ukraine resistance east of the Dniepr

Estimates are anywhere from 10,000 to 30,000 will be trapped

Its pretty clear Russian generals are seeing this and going for itView attachment 3020741

After that...forces will race north unopposed to encircle the other 50k in the front

Could you imagine if they pull a Sedan here?

They need to get the fuck out of there and pull back to the Dnieper.

Well they keep shooting each other and their own soldiers and not the enemy for one.

I think handing out weapons willy nilly to civilians who are untrained and about to be in a hot warzone and paranoid as fuck could arguably be considered a crime or at least gross negligence because holy shit of course that is gonna lead to a ton of friendly fire incidents

Everyone has right for self defense, no matter how nigger they are.

They are under no obligations to fight and have no commanders or objective. Most of them, especially the younger and older gens were conscripted already.

The fakes about these newly issued AK ending up for sale is bullshit. All guns issued have serials and the only way you were getting one is with passport. Won't be the best way to make money right now.

Czech Reupublic made decision to block several "pro-Russian disinformation conspiracy websites". From what I know it's basic bitch boomer conspiracy websites, that nobody cares about.

I get why they did it, but I don't think it's a good thing. I expect that there will be some collateral damage in name of fighting with disinformation – in all of Europe.
Well, now you can get max three year for publicly supporting of Russian invasion – both IRL and on social media.

Google translate:
"Freedom of expression is constitutionally enshrined in Article 17 of the Charter of Fundamental Rights and Freedoms. Everyone has the right to express his or her opinions in the manner he or she deems appropriate. But even freedom of expression has its limits in a democratic state governed by the rule of law," Stříž said. link

This is just fucking retarded, no matter what you think. Soon in city near you™.

No.

Learning how to hunt or shoot on a square range does not prepare you for anything but being a target or blue on blue

Whatever Russia does, do not disband the Ukrainian army or its police.

I'm not too keen on fatalism so it's a given that I believe that man shouldn't be doomed to live in accordance to the wills of faceless figureheads or even tied to circumstances that he can't control such as his place of birth. Still, not a cosmopolitan view when you're not promoting multiculturalism or an united global government.

I occasionally wonder if the recent world events (covid fiasco, last year's middle east fiasco, canadian fiasco and now Slav war) haven't nudged common folk towards the obvious conclusion that no current form of government can be trusted and you gain nothing by getting too worked up over who gets to be in power or not when all those in power or aspiring to be in power are equally morally bankrupt and inept.

We won't be getting a full on Snake Plissken's timeline anytime soon but one can dream...
So are we reaching a plateau already?

The news about SWIFT and Turkey were essentially media catastrophizing and the battle at Ukraine seems to be centered at Kiev with the Ruskies obviously trotting over parts of town already. How long do you all give until the city falls? Not seeing much possibility of a stalemate at all.

It's gross negligence and it will indeed increase the count of civilian deaths.

Who says war is fair? Who says urban warfare is fair? Who says urban unconventional warfare is fair? It is all dirty as fuck. There is no such thing as a clean war.

I don't know where you got this idea that Ukraine needs to meet Russia on some sanitized dueling ground to bend over and take it in the ass or it isn't sporting, But it's retarded.
If they didn't even make plans to evacuate their civvies while they were waiting for an invasion, then yes, he can get fucked. Mass evacuation policies are expected of any government operating under the pretense off protecting their people. "We fight to protect the hohol people, btw stay in range of incoming artillery fire."
nothing is lost, at some point Ivans will run out of diesel running their Soviet era hardware and will try to go back home to Russia.

This "campaign" reminds me of Napoleon. He invaded, fought his way to Moscow while the tsar was in St. Petes ... the eventual trip back was not fun.

May be Russians LARP as French? They like to imagine themselves the new elite with families living in Paris (like Peskov's whole family)
You're larping as a patriot while hiding in your basement jerking off to gopnik gore. High five.

Its obvious russian losses are much higher than for US in Iraq. But in terms of speed its very similar, if not outright faster, than US troops advancing through contested territory. Also exactly how much higher losses are don't know, seen many examples of claims where "entire tank columns" have been destroyed, when in reality it was a single IFV or APC. Or even Ukrainian vehicles. The only picture of destroyed Russian columns that I know of are two columns of trucks near Kherson.
It reminds me of the scoring system in World of Tanks.

To win, each team must destroy 15 tanks or take the flag.

Ukraine probably has destroyed 5 or 6.

Russia is probably at 12 or 13 right now.

The game isn't over yet but it could be this sceanario.
