It makes sense when you consider Russian supply lines are hundreds of miles across an unsecured countryside in soft-skinned vehicles.

The arms aren't for taking on infantry and mechanized units, they'd all die horribly in short order. The idea is to arm a bunch of irregular bushwhackers to pepper convoys with hit-and-run tactics and impede the flow of fuel, ammo, and materiel to the front. This kind of warfare takes a lot of resources to fight and even then you really never defeat it when you are in injun territory. The more Russian troops dealing with that means fewer on the front.

That said. I don't think it will "win" the war.
Thats assuming Russians cant capture fuel in the country. Which they probably can.

Perhaps he should've imported millions of feral niggers instead. Open borders for Ukraine!
Russia has chechan jihadi rapebeast super soldiers. Maybe the U.S should loan out their stunning and brave black folX to Ukraine in their time of need, their black excellence will surely turn the tides of war. You're done now vladimin, the kangs brigade will pop yo ass!

Don't drag me into your personal melodrama and don't bother trying to put words in my mouth I didn't say.

And the people there that want to stay?
Sucks to be them. Two wolves, one sheep.
Eh, the land may be of national value. Maybe the national government has invested in that land, etc.
The national government needs to consider that before treating the locals like shit, to the point that secession is on the table.

You cannot force feuding groups with irreconcilable differences to live together against their will, and expect them to just magically grow tolerant and get along. It almost always ends in tragedy.

:story: may be in Moscow or wherever you are trolling from.

Have you had a chance to use cell service in Ukraine outside of major cities? I have, lol.

As to high tech military navigation shit, there are vydyas on the actual state of Russian Soviet comms, they would legit benefit to just order a bunch of cheap baofengs from aliexpress if they had the money.
You don't need cell service to use GPS. Even on a crappy commercial phone that almost everyone has in their pocket.

Unless there's some military downside like getting tracked through your phone recieving GPS signals, there's no reason any russian convoy should be unclear about where they are.

Okay, serious question for military, poli-sci and historians.

IIRC, the Geneva convention has provisions that any actor aiding and abetting the enemy can legally be considered an enemy combatant?

If true and correct, then would that not apply to nations giving military aid and entities promoting propaganda? So NATO nations sending weapons. CNN, twitter etc.
Because the Ukrainians are so outmatched militarily they are able to recieve aid from other countries including weapons. What cannont be given is weapons that would out preform the Russians so no advanced fighter jets and bombers or naval warships. Russia also has the Belarus assisting them.

These are meant to stop drone swarm tactics that the Azerbaijanis used against Armenians. Turks provided Ukraine with the same kind of drones as they did Azerbaijan.

WTF how can they be this inept. were their orders literally "drive towards kiev until you run out of gas?" they dont even know which direction to go.
Russkies just can't let go of Soviet era command structures. Over-compartmentalization of tactical and/or strategic data to the detriment of the mission isn't necessarily just a Russian thing, but they're the fucking champs at it. Don't get to excited over it. It's bitten us in the ass, too. Probably still does from time to time.
