Honestly, none of the Switch games are worth starting with aside from Arceus. You’d be better off emulating/using a flashcart to play the really acclaimed ones from older consoles (Emerald, Platinum, HeartGold/SoulSilver, Black/White, Black 2/White 2).

Not even the Mystery Dungeon remake? I heard good things about that. Grabbing a flashcart is just a good idea in general though.

I have that one, and it's nowhere near as good. The plot's same, and the graphics are nice, but the controls are clunky, and most of the convenient mechanics from the original have been scrapped in favor of fake difficult.

Stick with the original version. It's much more fun.

okay so i started getting into going after outbreaks since i'm delaying the main story, and now i understand what people mean by how stupid easy shinies are to find. i was in the middle of a clefairy outbreak when a shiny one appeared. unfortunately, i made the mistake of commencing a battle with it, and it fucking ran away. i mean i didn't really even want the shiny clefairy (seriously it's like a lighter pink and the brown patches become a light green, it's meh), but i was fucking PISSED. so i immediately haul ass back to town and see a snover outbreak, and during the chaos a shiny snover appeared, and i almost missed it. at least snover/abomasnow are dualtype grass/ice. i mean it's kinda a terrible defensive typing but lol whatever shinies.

so the shinies i have in this game are (minus the guaranteed ponyta): kricketune, 2 toxicroak croagunk, tangela, tangrowth, wurmple, snover... so pretty much they're all kinda garbage, except maybe the two toxicroaks croagunks.

edit: lol late edit but i also have a shiny aipom. and i meant croagunk instead of toxicroak kek

So the overworld encounters look like they are taking what legends did and trying to expanding on it, I was swearing they would go back to hallway bullshit after legends and never been happier about being proven wrong. new pokemon designs might suck tho that is tbd

Pompadour duck looks the best out of all of them. I mean it's nice to see the next gen look less linear (and the shine on Magnemite's model is lovely) but jesus christ they need to slow down on the games.

The Toilet (Fire dino/crocodile) has the potential to be pretty badass, imo. I have not idea where they'll go with the other two however.

I'm just glad arceus was actually a test bed for games going forward but do agree that if they pump games on this scale out annually there will be fatigue
