Well that's the rub isn't it. Putin has not exactly been clear what he actually wants from this...
To a point it's about showing the buffoonish song-and-dance man who learned everything he did about politics from watching Starship Troopers to realize that you don't get to disrespect your quasi-superpower neighbor and make stupid declarations about building nukes just because you imagine you're the POZ-backed Sky Marshal.

For fucks sake, he even looks like the other guy! "For great UkraiNATO Federation I will give your lives......"

I won't bother rehashing all the points made by the more adult commenters throughout the last twelve-hundred pages that deal with the deeper nuance of the situation because there seems to be a preference for MUH UKIE AVENGER memes and gay Putin fantasies.

Ok so. Based on what's happened so far, with the SWIFT ban, insane amount of sanctions, the unexpected amount of resistance the Ukrainians are holding, and the list of countries pledging military assets and soldiers building, what are the chances this is actually literally unironically without a doubt kicking off a massive war? Maybe not WW3, maybe no nukes, just a large scale battle with death tools in the hundreds of thousands?

Because it feels a bit like this whole debacle is being staged to have excuses to shore up money and set up talking points for the 2024 election
Chill out. Brandon has got this.

Is it really a resistance when Russia has encircled every major city and is not actually trying to take it over? They did this in the last Chechnyan war. Encircle a city, wait till they give up, go in take over importantilitary buildings. If they attack you once inside bomb it to the ground. We are in the middle of the encircling phase. Idk if that qualifies as "resisting" since if Russia is following the same strategic place they have pretty much succeeded at it at this point.

Curious what people think about this:

Russian grandmaster Sergey Karjakin is facing disciplinary action from the International Chess Federation (FIDE) after expressing support for his country’s military operation in Ukraine.

In an open letter to President Vladimir Putin shared on social media on Sunday, the Crimean-born Karjakin said he fully backed the effort to fight “for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine.”

“I appeal to you at this difficult time, when our country, led by you, is fighting for the safety of the peaceful Russian population of Donbass and the Lugansk People’s Republic,” wrote the 32-year-old.

“It is fighting for the demilitarization and denazification of Ukraine with its ruling regime, which has put the security of all of Europe and our country at risk, for the sake of its political goals and ambitions.

“I am closely following the ongoing special operation, in the lands where I spent my childhood, where I learned to play chess and where my relatives still live.

“For eight long years we have been waiting with hope for salvation from countless shelling and loss of human lives, the ongoing genocide by the still acting Kiev regime.

“I express to you, our commander-in-chief, full support in protecting the interests of Russia, our multinational Russian people, eliminating threats and establishment of peace! I wish you the speedy fulfillment of all the tasks assigned to our valiant army.”
I don't know much but it sounds like a lot of people in the Donbas region genuinely do perceive the Ukrainian government as persecuting Russians in the region and national Russians clearly believe this to be the case. I have no idea the extent of any persecution in the region but perception is reality.

No.
Seriously, its just not.
Can we pretty please stop trying to gaslight god knows who by stating "OMG ROCKETHOLOCAUST" every time a fucking building gets hit by something ?
This is twitter-tier disinfo.

This is the real life version of what you just described, and what it looks like:

Does your video look like it got the Grozny-deluxe treatment ? Or like a single, concentrated strike to reduce damage, compared to just bombing everything?
These are just the initial videos, not from hours long concentrated bombardment. We'll know in a few days how extensive the bombardments will end up being.

Grozny is a tragedy in a category of its own. I'm sure no one wants a repeat of that. The callousness of using the same weapons in the same context, even on a limited scale, should raise concerns.

If you asked me a few years ago if I ever considered that the Russian military would launch another campaign as brutal as the Chechen wars, I would have laughed at you. Considering how crazy the world has gone over a couple of years and how many "impossible" things have happened, I no longer consider it impossible. If the Russian military accepts using unguided MLRS in heavily populated areas, another Grozny is only a matter of time. It might not be Kharkiv, it might not even be during this war, but I have no doubts that it will happen somewhere at some time.

Reminder we're still yet to see wreckage of those IL-76s they shot down, on their way to launch unsupported paradrops deep behind enemy lines that were being annihilated by ukrainian forces as soon as they landed for which we have also seen no evidence
Maybe the 4D Russian psyop propaganda bots from the 2016 US election were real. Maybe Russia has been feeding The West™ these bogus "Ghost of Khiyhiuv" and Marvel superhero stories in order to convince these media-addicted retards in Washington and elsewhere that they're actually winning and when Russia does inevitably annex Ukraine it will be like the shock of Hilary losing x1000.

For those who don't remember, every single person in the world who was left of center thought there was a 99.999% chance of Hilary Clinton becoming president because they started to believe their own CIA psyop. They were so shocked by their own disinformation that they blamed Russia for it.

Maybe it's all real. Maybe Putin really is le master trole.

I wonder if people leaked how to make a pipebomb to ukraine
although strategically speaking it'd be easier to molotov a tank from above a high building multiple times, but that would required cordination. personally if I was in a wartorn area, I'd start gathering as many vodka bottles as I can preferably 99 proof vodka, and wait from a very high vantage point and chuck those bad boys until I make a good boom boom all the while laughing autistically maybe before that dump a shit ton of gas and then chuck the molotov cock tail while running for my life. all the while laughing "ha ha tank go boom." wouldn't even do it for the money just the fun of it.

Most of the attention is in the north.

The Russians have been rolling over Ukrie positions in the south like they're nothing and now Mariupol is surrounded.

Pretty shure the media doesn't want to show or inform people of that.

I imagine the loss condition for the Ukrainians is death to the leaders or exile.

Pretty sure, based on Putins previous excursions his win condition is a new govermemt for Ukraine, possibly the Donbaus annexed or its own country(ies) and a pro-Russian or at worse a neutral goverment in charge of Ukraine.

Pretty sure he's going to get it.

Typically speaking the "good guys" aren't censoring or punishing people for expressing their thoughts, traditionally. It is a brave new world now though so maybe that's aisguided notion of the past.
Nazis said similar shit asshole

If there are going to be nukes going off, at the very least I'll have peace knowing the bossy, diversity hire trannies and fag Generals at the Pentagon that have fucked the US over irreversibly will receive a few seconds of unimaginable pain from Russian hypersonic targeting before being vaporized in an instant, leaving their manly shrieks still hanging in the air afterwards.

All the twitter screencaps in this thread made me realize how unintentionally terrible Twitter is for sharing anything that requires confirmation. The character limit gimps your ability to post URLs so nobody does it and posts pictures instead.
It's actually worse than that. Posting a URL in your Tweet makes the algorithm ghost your tweet so nobody ever sees it. Twitter actually disincentivises sources and encourages memes on a algorithmic level.
