We can't even get India to stop trading with Iran. India wasn't Washington's bitch during the Cold War, when it was much poorer and weaker, and the USSR was much more dangerous than modern Russia. India won't submit to American domination in the 21st century because it has even less reason to now than it did in 1965.
Bolso is almost definitely going to lose in Brazil, so that's another very tentative "ally" gone for Russia as well, who doesn't even do business with Russia anyway.
Yes, they do. Brazil also trades with Iran. The USA trying to strong-arm Brazil into submission on a Russia embargo because Russia invaded a country nobody in Brazil cares about is probably not going to play well there, regardless of who heads the next government. I don't think you understand how deeply the rest of the Americas resent the USA acting like their governments are just subsidiaries of Potomac, LLC.
And Mexico? Lmao good luck with that. They might have an independent streak, but their bread and butter economically is with the US and Canada, their largest trade partners.
We failed to make Mexico our vassal state during the Cold War, when, again, Mexico had far more reason to submit than now if it was ever going to. Mexico trades with Iran and is happy for most of its banks to be blocked out of SWIFT due to not practicing KYC/AML in compliance with American standards. The USA does nothing, because we can't afford to, and because being perceived as America's bitch is an instant loser for any Mexican political party. America won't try to break Mexico in order to enforce a Russia embargo, and even if we did, all that does is make anti-USA sentiment the winner of the next Mexican election cycle.
We don't have the kind of muscle we did in 1964, and everybody knows it. We're not going to bully the planet into submission, and we don't have as much to offer them as we did in 1992, either.
