Seeing a war through the lens of modern social media is breaking me on a level I didn't think possible.
"OMG look at this heckin war hero who sacrificed himself just like Iron Man did to beat Thanos! I'll upvote that!"

Seeing this makes me want to unironically kill myself. What bleak hellscape have we created?
As I said many pages ago, nerd culture should have remained niche. This, trannies and guntlemen, is what happens when you don't bully the stupid out of people when they're still in school.

If Ukraine is somehow granted accession to the EU, shit is going to get weird. I don't even know if it'll be bad or good. Just fuckin' weird.
Russia will respond very badly.
Russian flags come down. Panamanian flags go up. Ships dock. Business as usual.
Most people do not know the term Flag Of Convenience.

You would've necked yourself in a minute back in the day, posters of this guy's mug would be plastered on every lamppost and flat surface
It's not the war hero thing that bugs me, it's specifically seeing this on social media. Like one minute you're watching a thot shake her ass and then a second later you're leaving a thumbs up on someone leaving a vid for their parents because they think they're about to die. I'm not even sure why exactly it upsets me, but it's filling me with existential dread.

Russia could throw nukes.
Repeat after me:
Nukes are not a modern day weapon, they are a display case ornament of showcasing your power.
No matter how small or big a country is, if they deploy even a single nuclear ornament against any foe, no matter how "evil" or "dangerous" they are, that country is signing itself up for every other nation helping them transition from country to glass.

They've perpetually put this off because of how much interstate trade is still cleared using dollars in the EU, and the US has flat-out said that if they go their own way on this, that they'll lose favored access to USD clearing.

If they were going to seriously move on this, it should have been 15 years ago when the euro was still ascendant and not buoyed by US credit-default swaps.
Which is why they may be willing to let Russia take the first steps in setting it up, and hope they get a second chance later to come in and shoe-horn themselves in. This of course will have the same US/China interests at play, but if you can make the dollar undesirable (or keep the US at "hate Russia" long enough) you might be able to move something. Obviously they're still buying gas.

Oooooh NOW they care about Russian disinformation....jesus.

...wonder what all the Redditors\Twittertards will do when they find out about the Steele Dossier. T-minus a few minutes until they start saying Hunter Biden is a hero of Mother Ukraine because he sat on the board of a Ukrainian energy company due to who his daddy is.
HUNTER THE HERO! HE GAVE THOSE POOR UKALALEANS ENERGY! MCDONALDS!

We all have different social circles, mine are admittedly range from not-giving-fuck to militant anti-russian.

My bet is on 18y.o. russian loosing his shit at a sight of a van, and not ukrainian regulars who'd have dushka mounted. Those are 50 cal rounds going, not ak.

Yes there are vids of Russians hijacking a car, store and killing civvies, but at this point it's just uki-bros posting vs russia-bros posting shit. I just don't the time to prove anything to you and frankly I don't care to.
Occam's Razor applies. The invading army is probably the one that's responsible. You have to do mental gymnastics for all the other options.

It's making me considerably meaner.

I feel like we are all being gaslit, 24/7. The Redditors and Twittertardationers are all falling for it immediately. PRESS X TO DOUBT on that fact alone
We are, it’s psyops on top of psyops. It’s impossible to trust most reporting barring ‘here’s a video of this shit happening’

The human brain isn't easily able to process such wildly varying emotional stimuli hitting it in such quick succession, the existential dread is your brain feeling like reality is breaking down as it struggles to get a handle on wtf is going on. Awww this is so cute omg that's disgusting holy shit that's terrifying etc. etc. all in a matter of seconds as you scroll down
