Yes. The end goal from what I have observed is to replace r/Russia with r/RussiaReplacement which seeks to "Provide accurate, unbiased information regarding Russian involvement in Ukraine" because r/Russia had to much disinformation. Practically speaking though its going to result in Russian propaganda being replaced by Ukrainian propaganda. If you look at any posts on r/RussiaReplacement you can see how I came to this conclusion.

1, 2 and 3 are still operational just not being operated. It's an autistic quibble but an important one due to the misinfo around nuclear power. That said reactor 4s complex is the stuff of nightmare fuel. It is still capable of causing the doomsday scenario of poisoning the Dneiper, the Black Sea, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean if it's not properly managed.

There is a reason the EU and America shelled out billions of dollars for the new safe confinement. The slap job the soviets had done was totally insufficient. But even the new sarcophagus is a temporary measure. Up until the start of this war reactor 4s containment was being handled by a highly trained team. Russia has taken that team prisoner and now containment is being handled by a bunch of draftees with high school education equivalents.

Good point. 1, 2, and 3 can be brought online, but are not currently operational. Important distinction that I wasn't clear when addressing.

And yes, the shit that melted through containment in Reactor 4 is the stuff of nightmares....

The fact that Russia has taken the team responsible for containing reactor 4 prisoner is infuriating. The chernobyl disaster is not contained. It's an ongoing concern.

as for the reactor, the sarcophagus is in place and secured, there's no imminent danger. all that's left is is observation and cleanup, and that can be done with some russian watching or put off for a few weeks.
