Russian Invasion of Ukraine (2022): Thread 1 - Ukrainian Liars vs Russian Liars with Air and Artillery Superiority

  • 🔧 At about Midnight EST I am going to completely fuck up the site trying to fix something.

I think he means in relation to the old style wood stocked weapons. I agree I think the a2 feels a bit flimsy, especially when you get something like an a4 that has solid rails that cut into your hand, the crappy plastic covering offering the barrel and exhaust tube of the a2 feels like airsoft fag level equipment.
When my AK jams it doubles as club

I’m assuming the answer is money.

what the fuck? Waging an online war against fucking Russia?
Yes. The end goal from what I have observed is to replace r/Russia with r/RussiaReplacement which seeks to "Provide accurate, unbiased information regarding Russian involvement in Ukraine" because r/Russia had to much disinformation. Practically speaking though its going to result in Russian propaganda being replaced by Ukrainian propaganda. If you look at any posts on r/RussiaReplacement you can see how I came to this conclusion.

Personally I'd go with it being a power play type deal. It has to make you feel powerful to be at the head of the table looking down at subordinates. If you're of an egotistical bent that is.

It's loads better than what Lyndon Johnson used to do: hold meetings with subordinates while he was shitting in the toilet. Ain't no greater power play than forcing your staff to smell your poop gas while listening to every word you say.

Ah, yes, the same Intelligence Community™️ that said Saddam had WMDs, and that the Steele Dossier was totally legit.

They were also saying this invasion was going to happen and that was dismissed by about 90% of the people active in this thread, the MSM and foreign leaders.

None of the remaining reactors are operational anymore. 4 Reactors at the site, and number 4 was the one that went into meltdown. Last operational one went offline in 2000 or 2001, I think. I'm sure there is still fissile material on site, as they're still decommissioning.
1, 2 and 3 are still operational just not being operated. It's an autistic quibble but an important one due to the misinfo around nuclear power. That said reactor 4s complex is the stuff of nightmare fuel. It is still capable of causing the doomsday scenario of poisoning the Dneiper, the Black Sea, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic Ocean if it's not properly managed.

There is a reason the EU and America shelled out billions of dollars for the new safe confinement. The slap job the soviets had done was totally insufficient. But even the new sarcophagus is a temporary measure. Up until the start of this war reactor 4s containment was being handled by a highly trained team. Russia has taken that team prisoner and now containment is being handled by a bunch of draftees with high school education equivalents.

this is really the most redditor shit i've seen yet.

Not entirely. Reactors 1, 2, 3 are certainly still viable, but the issues with reactor 4 are huge.
I don't think any of the reactors are still viable at this point. Reactor 2 was damaged by a fire, so only reactors 1 and 3 were in operating condition when they were shut down. With reactor 1 being shut down in 1996, and reactor 3 shut down in 2000. And I rather suspect the decommissioning process rendered them fully inoperable. They're likely just concrete buildings that used to house a reactor at this point, or only house the shell of a rector. Nothing that'd be useful for power generation without refurbishing that amounted to building an entirely new reactor. For which they could build a newer, better one someplace safer that didn't have random bits of radioactive debris lying around.
No, the only things of potential value at Chernobyl at this point is the spent fuel stored there, and whatever part of the electrical grid still runs through the area.

If it ain't broke don't fix it, that gun is a powerhouse that is accurate and reliable, its just really heavy.
A lot of people don’t realize that guns are just a type of machine and that while technological progress can happen (especially in materials science), at the end of the day a machine gun from WW1 can kill you just as dead as one from 2020.

Helicopters have the benefit of being able to nuthug terrain to mask themselves going for them though instead of being a giant missile truck with a meme cannon.

I love the A-10 but it ain't a good fit for this fight.
We lost 4 A-10's during Desert Storm due to ground fire, along with 4 Harriers. I think that's just the risk that comes with the CAS role. War ain't pretty.
