The leaked RIA Novosti post-war editorial indicates they expected to fight only "Nazi formations." The continued resistance of regular forces and the rapid arming of a levee en masse was not accounted for. Nor does the triumphalist screed acknowledge the great economic damage done to Russia already, or the apparent expansion of NATO in reaction to their new conquest. They also underestimated the worldwide reaction to their invasion, believing "the operation in Ukraine is not capable of rallying anyone but the West against Russia." This is not going the way they expected, militarily, economically, or politically. How can anyone say whether or not its going as well as putin hoped when don't know how well it's going, and don't know what putin hoped?
Damn, RIP whoever was in that car passing by. If the shrapnel didn't kill them then the shockwave will.
I've heard reports that only one third of the Russian army deployed to the Ukrainian border have actually engaged Ukrainian forces. While I doubt that number, there's a really good chance that a significant part of the army could be free to play out that scenario. That said, if the Kremlin were truly hoping that the invasion would be over in a week, then they themselves are fucking lolcows for thinking such. As if the Ukies would roll over after the initial surprise wore off. As the few Ukrops posters here demonstrated, the anti-Russian sentiment runs deep.
Now that we had four days of war to examine, however, you have to wonder if this was a calculated move by Moscow. Ram up against Ukraine's cities from all sides, pin the defending forces against the cities, then encircle them one by one to defeat them in detail. It certainly seems to be developing that way.
Yeah it's not over by a long shot and I do believe there was an attempt at a fast lighting war. If anything this war will last months years even perhaps. Because you don't just have a country which served as a large Soviet armory for years. But you also have a country which built tanks and weapons and right now is being armed and supplied with rifles, light military vehicles and whatever they need from the US. For once we're actually going to see NATO weapons systems under Ukraine flags of course be used against the Russians. While the deck is very much stacked in Russia's favor at the current moment a few weeks and foreign volunteers as well as arms have changed tides in battles. Syria looked like it was going to fall in early 2012 until Iran sent in it's militas to back the syrians and do the "dirty fighting". So far I expect alot of wignats and far right people online being given a break as Ukraine will convince the west the Russian Nazis are really bad and ourNothing. People were shitposting about Ukraine being wiped out in a week and people took that as an informed prediction. While modern warfare can be fast, it's not so fast that a country the size of Ukraine can be taken in four days when it's being defended by hundreds of thousands of soldiers with decent morale. The oft-cited example of the 2003 invasion of Iraq is probably the closest equivalent example, and that took around seven weeks to defeat a much weaker country. Ukraine isn't Estonia or Georgia, it's the second biggest country in Europe with a huge stockpile of Soviets weapons that work, more or less. I don't think people realize that.
The car rolling to a stop at the bottom is haunting.
Most of the people giving opinions on the subject don't know what they are talking about. They have an instant gratification mentality and anything that takes more than a few hoursSome people are talking about how stalled the invasion is. Is it really going slow? It only started 4 days ago, and the German conquest of Poland, which was superfast, lasted something like 5 weeks. And in the German invasion of the Soviet Union, yes, they got to Minsk in a few days, but it also took them weeks to capture Brest. I'm not stating a position here, just honestly asking what makes this stalled compared to other invasions?
Save those for when the PRC decides to Lebensraum you broTaiwan is donating 27 tons of medical supplies to Ukraine.

Oh boy, I remember my my middle-brain phase. Life was so blissfully complex back then. "Things tend to be more complicated than on the surface therefore I choose to take no sidesIt's as if a few people in this thread can't conceptualize anything beyond the most superficial black/white good/bad conception of morality.
They're trying to apply interpersonal conflict morality to fucking geopolitics and it's just bizarre that they can't grasp a whole other set of vitally important principles at work.
Honestly, this is probably gonna end in the best way when it comes to entertainment, Ukraine will get puppeted so we get to laugh at Twitter, Reddit, MSM, etc.
But Russia's economy, already shitty, is probably gonna get so fucked they're need to try and make a new currency to salvage something out of the economy, so Russiaboos will seethe.
serious literally every other country on Earth needs to go "oh, hey look there's that other thing, I sure need to handle that" about nowJust stumbled on a strange video of the Canadian Opposition Leader Candice Bergen giving a pro-Ukraine speech outside the Russian embassy, and getting booed by the crowd.

Conservative leader @CandiceBergenMP is here but is being shouted down by some protesters as she speaks, while others are cheering.
Apparently the Russians are also pissed that this protest of their Ottawa embassy was allowed to happen:
Russia threatens retaliation after 'hostile' Ottawa protest
Russia calls in Canadian envoy, complains over protests outside its embassy
fuck i forgot to post this one too
Thank god the armchair generals have back up from armchair Putin experts and armchair psychics.Putin thought he was gonna get a quick surrender and the literal Comedian leader would flee to Poland and capitulate lol.
they lost thousands in days and are suffering from utterly fucked logistics when they both border this nation and have a buffer state lending them supply lines through their territory unopposed. their predictions on how quick and successful theyd be have been completely blown to bits like abandoned russian vehicles. idk how america would fare tbh because they moronically thought occupying nations would be an affordable process that could be done within the timeframe of an adhd non committal headline chasing populace of nigger cattle.Arm chair generals think 4 hours would be enough for the USA to roll over any country that's not China or Russia and take over completely with 0 casualties or equipment lost and by next morning the country should had been turned into a vassal state 100% loyal to it and completely surrendered and peaceful
no it hasnt, at all. not on russias side at least. i dont think putin expected thousands dead and having to siege out cities after waves being repelled by a significantly smaller power.to happen loses their attention. The conflict generally has gone exactly as informed opinion expected.
usually nations abandon their vehicles after theyre forced to leave years long occupations, not abandoning it during the initial invasion itself.Because the narrative says the war is failing, the war must be failing.
Nobody really has enough information to conclude anything about what has gone on yet.

I think you might be overestimating Ukraine's ability to fight a protracted war. While they won't collapse in a few days or maybe not even this month, they will suffer incredibly severe losses if they try to hold in the east as Russian spearheads are already cutting across the country. Even if they do try to pull out, the retreating forces will suffer from a Russian bombing campaign and likely shattered morale. Kyiv will also be surrounded within a few days and that will severely damage the Ukrainian logistical situation in the east; similarly, if Mykolaiv falls soon and Ukraine is unable to make an orderly retreat, then even the southwest will be open to Russian attacks.Yeah it's not over by a long shot and I do believe there was an attempt at a fast lighting war. Ukrainian Nazis are just LARPers who hate Russians and love American blacks and Jews. Expect this war to continue. This war will make Syria look like a picnic once all is said and done.
