r/childfree - Where child-haters congregate

Its perfectly fine to be childfree, or decide to not have children. That is a personal choice.
I love how this sentiment is glibly espoused online and other modern spaces, not because it's false (it's a very nerdy middlebrow kind of technically true), but because there's still places on Earth where not having kids means you're gonna starve to death as soon as you can no longer lug rocks and dig dirt every day. Even in the West it hasn't been a century since failing to reproduce could be considered ontologically similar to killing yourself (which is also a personal choice btw). You don't even have to get into any kind of metaphysics about muh progeny or muh tribal continuity. There can still be consequences in current year, mostly a slow sort of starvation on the charity of others once you're already pretty old, but technology and functioning complexity keeps the ravening beasts at bay... for now.

Listening to various childfrees rationalize their positions is pointless, people can and do rationalize the most obscene behavior especially when the dissonance causes them mental anguish. You'd have to know someone damn well to even attempt to determine if their rationalizations were more than simple cover for selfishness or cowardice or whatever.

Overpopulation and similar arguments tend to be facile, after all you're essentially advocating for a mass die-off (at some point in the process collapse is inevitable and it's not just oldies that will get it) so why not be true to your convictions and off yourself immediately? Selfishness? Cowardice? What's the difference between one kind of uncontrolled die-off and another? The difference between population crash caused by humans and a meteor strike? How many kinds are there and what kind will your personal lack of children favor? It's just weak, typical of abstracted nerd logic as it relates to anything other than math equations and computer code. Notably, I've never heard people who work in the physical world (that is to say with their hands) come out with any of this stuff. Neither have I heard it outside of the wealthy and developed West. It seems to be an idiosyncrasy caused by (technological?) abstraction from reality.

Anyways it's best to be honest about it if you're gonna take some kind of position, especially a fringe one. Know thyself and all that.

Totally unrelated, I love the idea of using gloves for shit duty. If I'm gonna use disposable gloves for chemicals and other things, why not use them for diaper changes and the catbox?

but because there's still places on Earth where not having kids means you're gonna starve to death as soon as you can no longer lug rocks and dig dirt every day.
Yeah, this is definitely an issue in places like Japan where it is expected your children will take care of you and well, like almost half of postmenopausal women in Japan are childless (can't seem to get the numbers on men) and that is a lot of old people that the state doesn't know what to do with or has the means to care for and it is a real problem.

I can’t also believe that there are also guys here who won’t have kids because of superficial things like being grossed out by body functions, and having to clean up their kids pee, sick and poop.

Exactly, no concept of self-sacrifice at all, They’d rather let their kids stink up the place and get rashes then sacrifice some pleasure to be good parents and look after their kid, pettiness knows no bounds:
Beyond being ontologically incoherent, it's pretty fucking retarded to criticize someone for being unwilling to "self-sacrifice" for the sake of someone who doesn't exist.

Well of course but often it’s the sole reason, their entire reason to not have kids is based on a petty repulsion to a few poopy diapers and natural bodily functions. We all do it, it’s just human nature, yet these people will literally swear off kids for good for having to clean up stuff taht all humans do every day. That itself is retarded.

I disagree. My thing is vomit. I gag and almost vomit myself just cleaning up my cats vomit, seeing my own vomit makes me heave again. It's been that way my whole life.

Kids are germ factories. I remember throwing up a lot as a kid. If one of my reasons for not wanting to have a kid is so that I don't have to clean up vomit because of a involuntary reaction I have, I don't think that's retarded. I don't think shit is a big deal, I've wiped but s before, but some people have the gag reflex to other people's shit like I do to vomit.

I also don't think I (or anyone) need to justify or even articulate my reasons for not having children to anyone, because you (general you) aren't me or my husband. Just like you (again, general you) don't need to justify why you had or want children. Because I'm not the ones raising them. We aren't involved in each other's choices.

Word. I'll give the Reddit faggots one thing - having children is one of the few personal decisions where some neurotic weirdos think they're owed an explanation from total strangers if those strangers choose not to participate.

I can't imagine anything less consequential than whether a person I will never know procreates or not.

Japan has a lot stronger adult adoption rules than many other countries

You seem to be claiming that being childfree is ignoring existing children, and not just not having them in the first place. Nonexistant kids don't have rashes or stink up anything.

I'm convinced such people are angry and resentful in an ironically similar way to the child-hating weirdos on Reddit.

Nobody anywhere is stupid enough to confuse neglecting a real child with choosing not having a child at all unless they're desperately trying to rationalize truly cosmic levels of deep-seated butthurt. Maybe they can't have kids and resent those who "waste" their ability or maybe there's overwhelming pressure in their lives to have kids and they secretly think "if I have to feel this way, everyone else should too."

Whatever the psychology behind it, it's super gay.

So I am someone who would be considered "childfree" so I checked the sub once, hated it, and never turned back.

That fucking sub has reached astounding levels of retarded and the posters are insanely insecure, making a mountain out of a molehill for the simple reason that people ask questions over you not wanting kids. That chip on their shoulder must be fucking large.

Of course, it's also filled with radfems and crazy conspiracy theorists, blaming the patriarchy or the government.
All the "enbies" and troons also flock there to rant about gender reveal parties and how "transphobic" they are.

So this thread is perfect for me :)

Childfree users stay mad about pregnant women on the bus

I always get trashed on for saying I wouldn’t because a pregnant woman is still young and able-bodied; I don’t see why they couldn’t stand and walk properly.

I’d only give my seat up for the elderly and disabled. Pregnant while disabled? Sure. But a normal pregnant woman? Sorry but no; I got to the seat first.

Edit: I asked about planes because I’ve had flights where a pregnant woman wanted to switch to a first class or roomier seat. I don’t remember if someone switched with her or not, but it was a full fight.

I’ve also had flights where parents were separated from their kids’ seats or vice versa. The parents asked around to see if anyone would switch seats so that their family could all be together. So, you wouldn’t be standing up in the plane or getting off the plane.

Personally, I wouldn’t offer because I chose my seat in advance, and it’s not my fault if parents wanted to save money by choosing random seating for their family. Saving money isn’t the issue btw, it’s the entitlement towards asking for something they didn’t pay for.

I honestly believe that the average age of a user on this sub is about 14.

I can assure you that having kids isn't going to prevent you from starving to death alone in a shitty nursing home or w/e, not if you're a shitty parent whose kids either cut contact the second they turn 18 or morph into equally shitty or even worse clones of the parents. I mean, look at Barb. Look at the Sammie Bushart multiverse. The issue isnt so much whether people in general should have kids, as it is some people just straight up shouldn't have them for the hypothetical childs' sake.

I'm not a fan of kids (especially babies), but kids deserve nothing less than to be brought into a family where they are both 100% wanted by all parties involved and capable of being properly cared for, both physically and psychologically. It's not fair to the kids to be born into a situation where they'll be hurt and mistreated, and if you know that's what you'll do to them it's better not to have any at all. Same if you just want to have little mini clones of yourself, or a quiver full of jesus arrows or any other number of shitty reasons people have kids that inevitably degrades into potential horrorcow shit.

r/childfree are dumb edgy spergs, but the opposite extreme position is just as bad, if not arguably worse since it tends to involve way more actual, real life child neglect and abuse (instead of just dumb edgy internet posts).

The first two are borderline sociopathic.

I cannot fathom getting mad at random pregnant women in public transportation. It has no bearing on their lives so why are they so butt blasted about it?

Yeah, do they expect pregnant women to just be kept at home like some kind of dystopian theocracy or some shit? They have shit they need to do and places they need to be just like everyone else. Hating on random pregnant women for just existing and not doing anything noteworthy is bizarre.

Also they seem to be unaware of just how hard pregnancy is on your body. Theres a reason pregnant women are included along with elderly and the disabled for priority seating. The fuck.

Just spent a few minutes in and around r/antinatalism

Not to PL too much but that Based Lisa post makes me MATI. It is a horrible tragedy when somebody completes suicide and it is almost never the fault of the parents. Most people love their children and try very hard to give them a better life. Depression is a real bitch and there’s not a lot you can do for someone with treatment-resistant depression. Although that is luckily changing as new regimens are developed and tested. But blaming suicide on the parents is so horrible and disgusting.

This is the reason why I think that the average user on there is in their early teens, the lack of empathy and overabundance of seethe reminds me of my early highschool days.

It seems to be worse than that, their words aren't frustrated they're outright spiteful. The tone of the writing leads me to believe that they see pregnancy as some form of societal entitlement (which to be totally fair it is but they seem to think that this is for absolutely no reason) and they're speaking from a place of jealousy if not outright envy.

Oh, definitely. That whiney "woe is me" attitude is peak teenage/early twenties Redditor behaviour. That being said I can't imagine being angry that minor equities exist. It's like they always need to be the most special boy in the room.

I'd say it's 75% of reddit. I swear to god, every Redditor has some sort of post about depression, being fat, being fat and depressed or some lovesick heartache over not being able to date people already in relationships or cheating or some misanthropic nihilistic doom post about how they cracked the code to humanity or some shit.

Ikr? What the fuck was that? I cannot begin to even try to logically think of how someone would make that comparison. Like why? Actually why?
