Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

Hello to all the beautiful people of Weeb Wars.

I heard Funimation is being phased out of relevance. Is that true?

Just another way of saying "We're monopolizing". FUNimation will continue to exist, though, but their streaming services? Doesn't look like it.

The current CEO of Crunchyroll used to work at Funi as a General Manager back in 2019:

Here I thought Funimation would be the top dog in the group, but HOLY SHIT!!! FUNIMATION IS ABOUT TO DIE AS A BRAND!!!!!!
This does not change anything for the lawsuit, though.
Just means Crunchyroll will inherit it.

So, where are the main offices going to be located? they still using that "new" studio setup they made in texas or they holding firm in san francisco?

Here's the real million dollar question I want to know, now that Crunchyroll swallowed Funimation, are Sony is going to be getting rid of some......"irregularities"? The ones that was involved with the case?
One of the reasons i'd like to know if they move out of dallas. That would leave behind most of the Sabat clique.

If Crunchyroll gets the lawsuit, does that mean that there’s a chance they may not wait for appeals and just approach Vic for settlement terms, especially since Vic just wants apologies and retractions.

Another question is how will this restructuring affect Funimation's physical distribution of anime aka DVD & Blu-Ray.
Will they have the Crunchyroll logo now or will they have Funimation's?

Get fucked Funimation. Funimation's brand was heavily damaged and this is Sony trying to side step it.

It dawned on me: Funimation got cucked by Crunchyroll!
As in actually cucked like how Cuckoo chick takes over a nest.
@mindlessobserver I know you don't come around here much, but is your take on seeing Funimation on death's door?

Yep, Crunchyroll just Matt from Tinder'd Funimation. As for Funimation being at death's door I don't see it with this. It's a sign BTS that things aren't great for Funi over there. If things come back from appeals heads will roll.

If everyone's recording at home the quality of dubs is gonna tank. From people just phoning it in to not being able to have directors and staff able to ask for lines redone in the moment...shit is gonna slip. It's one thing for only one or two people to be at home because it's easier to help them, but the amount of oversight needed for a remote staff is a lot higher than one would expect.

I fully anticipate this to be the beginning of the end for people who can't keep up with the changes. Being able to record at home isn't going to save them unless they're someone who understands how to work at home.

Monica and Co seem like the kind that need more hand holding whereas Sabat comes off as being a know it all and believing that he can be the judge of his own quality.

I think I know what you mean. The only remote VA gigs I've heard of were Vic as Qrow Branwen in RWBY, and Sylvester Stallone as Rambo in MK11. I think Tara Strong also did it while she was Twilight Sparkle in MLP, but I never bothered to look that much behind the scenes.

Welcome to the age of Zoom. Just remember, if a 16 year old aspiring rapper can DIY a recording studio in his bedroom, so can these VAs.
