I still don't see Finland joining NATO, yet. The government holds the opinion of military officials in high regard and the official stance of the military is that "Every country, in principle, should take care of its own national defence." This has been unchanged.

Although, if there ever was a time and will to join NATO. it is right now. It just has to be done quickly enough that the Russians are not able to gather forces on the Finnish border to put pressure on the government. Currently, a significant portion of Russian troops that are generally garrisoned at the Finnish border in the Leningrad area have been pulled into Ukraine.

As much as we just want to dismiss the effects of spergs and NPCs on social media whining, it does have effects like this where countries feel pressured to make stupid decisions because they to get caught up into the heat of the moment.

One of the things you have to realize is some of the worst NPCs are people in positions of moderate power, generally in bureaucracies as middle management. They cause a stir from the middle that gets up to the top. The people at the the should know better, but either give into the pressure, or just don't want the hassle of whipping the mass of subordinates. Isn't it any wonder our society feels like a constant HR meeting?
