That civilians have been prevented from surrendering and leaving has only circumstantial proof but that any mayor who negotiates with the Russians to prevent loss of life is slated for treason trials is a fact.

So we can probably expect targeted shelling or strikes on the centres of command in these cities. At least I think that would be better for both civilians and the Russian forces since urban combat on the offense is a pretty bad position to be in.

Not analogous. Zelensky is a Western puppet and asset and has enjoyed the support that comes with this. as someone who lives in russia I keep returning to thinking abot this situation despite trying to distract myself, since I'm just a little man who will be sweped by the Great Game between nation and even the soil will not remember my name
I have several ideas of what's going on:
1. Putin has gone off the rail and is completely mental. Multiple possibilities- from him believing his own propaganda to him being a legit lunatic.
2. Like people mentioned ITT before- Putin and his cronies thought they could conduct a swift victorious war with the rest of the world going "meh", just like they did with Georgia. But this had backfired in their faces.
3. West is indeed has resigned from Ukraine and is giving it to Putin. I don't see indications of that, but its possible- they cant JUST give it to him, they need to create a stink. We will see if they lift some or even all sanctions in the future.
4. There is some secret thing only Putin and his cronies know about- like there is a secret mountain of gold and hidden consumer electronics factories beneath Ural mountains by the dwarfs. Pure fantasy, naturally, but maybe there is something we dont know or dont see.

One thing is fore sure. As usual the russians, not him, would be paying for his decisions for years to come.
