But... it took America + Allies a month to take Iraq. A 3rd world country half the size (population wise at least) of the Ukraine with troops that ran away instead of staying to fight.

I dunno maybe I'm dumb but I don't get it.

Part of the reason Iraq took that long is due to logistics It's much simpler to logistically support an invasion of a neighboring country as compared to one that's on the other side of the globe.

America had to ship most of their tanks over to Iraq, which is slow. Their cargo aircraft could only carry 1 or 2 tanks at a time.

Russia can roll their tanks into Ukraine in a huge ass convoy. It's faster.
